Would Waylon Jennings have ever sung a plastic crap song like 'Mr. Mom?'

That is why people bash 'modern' country music.

Doc, doesn't your buddy do booking for the Varsity?
Get him to book Turnpike. I think they'd do well at a venue like that.

Varsity is 800 capacity...

Think they should play Chelsea's or manship theatre/Hartley Vey before playing the varsity..

They played in front of 6000 on Labor Day, but I forget that Louisiana has terrible taste in music

Okay, don't you know anyone who books at those places?

Baton Rouge is such a weird market for country music.

Texas country does okay though. I don't think TT has ever played BR. Might be good to start off at a smaller venue. I'll mention it to the varsity booker (he reads this board all the time)

I personally don't think they'd do well here, but dammit I want to see them. I've seen too many empty rooms for too many other good bands.

Baton Rouge needs a bar that has country bands nightly. I think that would create a better buzz for these Texas bands. Most country fans around here have no idea who Turnpike Troubadours, Jason Boland, or Aaron Watson is. But, I guarantee if they heard their music or saw them play live they'd be fans.

I just walked past The Roux House and saw that American Aquarium will be there soon. I guess I need to check them out.

A real one though. Not one that plays rap between country songs, a la the Texas Club.

For some people, bashing country music is a way to show their musical cred. Modern country music does suck, however.
