every genre of music gets shite on:
rap, country, indie music (or, more accurately "hipster music"), metal gets thrown under the bus via numetal.

There's a lot of good country music - even pop country. But the lowest common denominator stuff (achy breaky heart is probably the ultimate) makes my butt hurt. There's a LOT of that out there (like a lot). It's just so transparently gimmicky.

I think it has more to do with people bashing the crap they call country music now. People with taste have grown tired of the cheapened Nashville pop music with a faked accent being called "country" music. Sorry, but mentioning a tractor and shoehorning in a fiddle does not a country song make.

My next question is, why is that it seems more like young guy's bashing country?
They've never even been around for the glory days of country. And, then how far back would one consider, "good" country?
I am not even a country music fan. I just wonder why Rap gets so much respect, and a free pass.

The majority of rap is garbage as well. The same goes for rock music. The lowest common denominator is usually what becomes popular, so the genre gets hit for it. The problem with "country" is that it got taken over by Nashville and they have almost completely controlled what is considered country. So, what most people think of as "country" is some candy-coated pop garbage with an accent feigned over the top of it. Good country exists, but it is almost certainly not on the radio.

This, I can understand.
I am raised on 70's rock, and late 70's/early 80's metal. Especially NWOBHM and under the radar acts like Riot, and then hair metal, MTV crap ruined the metal genre in the late 80's.

haha, hold up, that's not true at all.
I think it has a reverential tone on the music baord maybe, but traditionally I've seen rap hated on just as much or more than country on TD/the OT

No, I'm just not a country music fan. I grew up listening to country on the school bus every morning and I hated it. I still don't like it. Let's just put it this way, modern country, at least, does not make my "speakers go boom boom".
