Bands or songs that you have a greater appreciation for later in life.

I'm not necessarily talking about lyrics, just songs/bands in general.'
It's awesome how the lead singer sings this with his raspy voice. I wonder if he talks like that every day.
Rancid

I’ll start this thread off with the inverse. So much of the music I listened to as a teenager I have listened to as an adult and most of it is complete dog shite and I can see why it’s popular for 12-17 year olds

This is true, but i think a lot of the 80's early 90's music is the opposite. Not appreciated at the time, but great music. There is a reason why 80's stations are hugely popular across the country.

The biggest example for me would be the Police. I had no appreciation for them as a kid but as I got into my twenties and more serious relationships, my appreciation for them took off. Lyrics finally made sense.

Fleetwood Mac. Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

Definitely The Beatles for me.

Tears For Fears
Cameo was always one of my favorite bands but I still don't think that they get nearly enough credit for being such a big part of the sound of the 80s...especially 80s R&B.

No, I have always appreciated at the time and liked what I liked. Music was really all I had growing up so it became a way of life.
But, ill go and buy mp3s of old Christian artists and songs that my family listened to when I was young

Lowell George/Little Feat - not so much the Jazz Rock version post George
I always kinda lumped them in with Jam bands and didnt give them a chance at all...
It was probably my mid-late twenties that I started to get into them, mainly through Lowell George's solo record.. Thanks I'll Eat It Here
And Ive mentioned many times I loathed Springsteen as a kid, but the light came on for me in college and he is one of my all time favorites... A live show with the E Street band is something everyone should see IMO..

REM. They were a little past the bullseye of my musical awakening, but they're one of my favorites now.

Pink Floyd. Never listened to them until roughly ten years ago.

70s music. I’m middle aged, and I always thought the music from the 70s was awful, but in the last 7-8 years I’ve grown an affection for a lot of it.
