I hope this thing is a success so they can keep doing it every year. they had american aquarium booked but the band got an opportunity to open for turnpike at red rocks so they routed their tour out west. then turnpike went on hiatus and that red rocks show got canceled

That's unfortunate. Thankfully, I got to see AA at Hogs last spring. I was really digging their sound. I'm a huge Hitchhiker fan obviously, but I'm looking forward to Old 97's. I'm normally a rock guy (especially pop punk and ska), but alternative country is my guilty pleasure and the base genre for a lot of my song writing ever since I heard this little ditty by Wilco on SNL as a teen:

Hate It Here

A festival called Bandito seems like it should have Ryan Bingham on the bill.

funny story about that show: that was the drummers first time playing with the band. he was flown in that day and had never actually met any of them. flew back the next day. he's currently playing with them now on their current tour. phenomenal drummer.

Any word on Son Volt yet? Performance? Reception? Can't wait to see Farrar & co. tomorrow night here in Birmingham.

Looks like a great lineup. I might have considered the drive to BR last night if I'd known about this.

Fun night. Some great music. Old 97s were the biggest let down.

How in the world was THAT show a let down??

Friend of mine who’s seen them 9 times said that was the best he’s ever heard them play. That was a ridiculous set with a lot of special rare songs. W-I-F-E and even mama tried. Rhett Miller was nonstop the whole night and was totally drenched at the end of time bomb to close out the show. I wanted to hear four leaf clover but I’ll live. That was an excellent show by any standard.

What was disappointing about it??

Son Volt were great. I enjoyed their set. Shooter Jennings band with the fiddle was super good.

I wish bottle rockets would have played wave that flag

Cannot believe I didn't know about this. Basically the only 3 bands I'd want to see right now playing on the same bill. Damn.
