In a nutshell they say the album was made before the virus and BLM shite and preemptively apologize that it doesn’t comment on those things.

It should be noted that their last album WAS a political commentary piece and fricking sucked. It was released a mere 9 months ago and was easily their worst album, which is probably why they’re releasing another so quickly.

This is fricking pathetic because the same people who care about this kind of thing are the ones that would gladly cancel them for a decade old tweet made in jest. The world sucks right now.

They need to drop “brothers” from their name and apologize.

They've been spiraling down the toilet for a decade. They should just quit making music all together...

Considering the hundreds of Facebook comments in support of the video they posted I’ll say lots of a-hole are, unfortunately.

Should’ve guessed. It’s the hipster contingent, I reckon.

This is where we are at. Musicians used to have their own takes on politics and society, it’s what made them interesting. Now their is a prepackaged agenda is hat needs to be followed, which makes them much less interesting.

Somewhat related...I went to NYC in May 2015 and went to the comedy cellar (I think that was it). I was sort of shocked when 5 of 6 comics had their sets dominated by Trump commentary. It just got old and sort of weird by the end of the show.

You have to wonder when this group think will not be considered cool at some point.

Neither do I. My dad absolutely loves them, but he likes a lot of (fake, IMO) sappy type stuff they play.

When I finally gave them a chance it just wasn’t for me. Not terrible music just don’t quite buy it.

To be fair to your coworker, they are much better live than they sound on their recent albums. Most of the new crap they put out now is way overproduced by Rick Rubin.

Eh...

1. We've liked them for quite a while. They've built up a good bit of equity and leeway with us.

2. Last year's album (a couple of bullshite songs especially) used up a good bit of that equity when it was released.

3. We saw them live not longer after said release and they were so awesome and so gracious and not in the slightest bit preachy between songs, thus they regained the lost equity. Swore we'd see them any time they were within a couple hours of us.

4. God I hope this new album doesn't suck.

Could've fooled me. The "We americans" song sounds like it's trying to be woke.

I still love their old records but my god, their new stuff really sucks balls.

My thoughts exactly. My wife and I are huge fans and have been for a long time. They come across as really genuine guys who seem to have a legitimate appreciation for their fan base. Unfortunately, the previous album was just terrible. Their worst effort by a mile.

They are talking about the upcoming release of The Third Gleam. "We Americans" is on Closer Than Together, which is a disaster of an album and way too woke for my taste.

I am very hopeful that The Third Gleam follows the same path taken by the first two Gleam albums. Looks to be the case from the sound of the preview track.
