Okay, so if you open the Sony manual, the fifth picture shows the left side of the back of the receiver. Below the antenna connections, there is the Tape Recorder section and to the right of those RCA connections are the Preamp/Power connections with the jumpers that bridge the preamp and the power amp. If you are only going to use the Bose speakers it's probably easiest to pull the jumpers and use those connections to hookup the Bose Equalizer. So with the power disconnected, remove the jumpers and run a pair of cables (2 RCA plugs each), one set from Preamp Out to the Tape Input Amplifier Connections (left section back of the Bose Equalizer). Keep the polarity consistent (usually the RCA cable will have red and white plastic covers or bands) So connect Red to Right and White to Left on both units. Connect the second cable pair from the Equalizer Tape Out to the Power In of the Receiver. Power it up and it should work.
The Receiver does have the capability of connecting two set of speakers. If you had another set of speakers, then you would have to connect the Bose equalizer through the Tape Recorder connections and leave the Preamp/Power jumpers in place. Same connections, Tape 1 Recorder Out to the Equalizer Input and Equalizer Rec Out to the Tape 1 input. Once you do this then you would use the Tape 1 Monitor switch/button on the front to the Receiver to put the Equalizer in line. You would only be able to listen to one pair of speakers at a time, The Bose Equalizer will not work with non Bose speakers. So you would use the Tape 1 Monitor to to connect/disconnect the Equalizer as needed.
Hope this helps

Not really. Any external equalizer could be connected in the same fashion.

No chrome in sight haha. My old man gave me the "blonde" speakers with the tan/taupe stands.

My 901s also belonged to my dad, I refoamed them and brought them back to life. He had a set of chrome stands for them but they rusted and were thrown out probably back in the mid-90s. I found a set of black stands locally so they’ll do until I can get some chrome ones.

I think the black stands look great!

Nice setup! What’s reforming them like? I’d imagine mine likely need it. May even need some new speaker wire as well

901s are known for the foam around the speaker deteriorating, in my 33 years my dad would always say he’d send them off to get down then never would. Found an instructional video on YouTube and did them myself, cost about $40 for the kit.

Hope you boys been ok, been a little quiet here...
Herbie Hancock “Man-Child”, Speakers Corner reissue
This thing smokes, very funky & groovy. And great pressing. If you’re a fan of “Head Hunters”, this is right in the same ballpark.
