Question for you guys. Is it possible to connect two receivers to the same pair of speakers? I have a year old Marantz receiver that I’ve been using for everything: TV, turntable, etc. I received a vintage Marantz receiver for my birthday that is a beauty. I’d love to make it my vinyl only receiver and then listen to TV through the new receiver while using the same pair of bookshelf speakers. I’d appreciate any help!

Not without physically disconnecting the speaker cable from one receiver and connecting to the other.
Well, technically you can, but the results will not be desirable!
Remember, the speaker cable is not a one-way transmission from the receiver to the speaker. It carries a voltage signal to the speaker while also providing a resistance back to the amplifier, and this signal voltage/resistance fluctuates thousands of times per second.
Even if you wire both in and leave one receiver off, there is still an additional 20 feet of non active wire which the speaker will send back EMF down, thus degrading the signal and altering the resistance (measured in Ohms).

Just get 2 pair of speaker cables and leave one unplugged at the base of the speaker when not using. When you want to switch, turn one off, unplug it’s cables from the speaker, plug in the second set of cables, then power up receiver two.

Thank you Marco! Hope you have had a great Thanksgiving.

If the speaker wires and connections aren’t fit with banana plugs, you could change them to that which will make Marco’s suggestion even easier.

Anyone pick something up for Record Store Day Black Friday?
Was really lucky to grab this. Got #482 of 2000 total copies.
Drive By Truckers- Live at Plan 9 Records (2006)
If you’re a DBT album this thing is gold because the only live albums they’ve released are from 1999 (way before their prime) and 2015 (way after their prime). It’s also the only live DBT album with Jason Isbell.
There’s also a hidden gem in there. They did The Rolling Stones’ “Moonlight Mile” with Isbell on vocals. Such a great song

Well, I had band practice last night, so I had to wait until this evening to enjoy this little diddy.
I know it is one of the most enjoyed pieces of music on this Music Board, and understandably gets overplayed, but nonetheless, I kinda like it.
Please feel free to check your music service for availability (all will have it as it is thoroughly enjoyed worldwide)—and by all means, don’t be afraid to turn the volume knob clockwise a bit--after all, this is an audiophile thread!
On now...
“Rammer Jammer Cheer”—The University of Alabama Million Dollar Band, from the Alabama Crimson Tide Classics Compilation, TIDAL stream, 16bit/44.1k resolution (running into a McIntosh D1100 DAC, upsampled to 24bit/96k resolution), 2003.

Senor Marco, if I could down vote twice I would. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Have a technical question for you guys. I have a vintage Marantz 2238 receiver and I am starting to get a hiss sound out of vocals and the top end. It’s pretty consistent but can be drowned out at high volumes. Any idea what is causing this? Is the old girl dying?

Yattan...drop me a line when you can...nothing urgent...I don’t think I have your contact info.
Did I give you my contact info when you were here? If so, just call me or shoot me a text and I will drop you a line back.
If not, I will post it here...just et me know (half this thread knows me already).

Ssss-sibilence is the sound you describe. Clean all your rotary (potentiometer) knobs, and all the point solders, and the RCA inputs with a can of fast-drying alcohol contact cleaner.

Greetings Music Board,
Alright so, I was given the following equipment by my dad because my mom won't let him hook up his system:
Bose 901 Series VI speakers & 901 Series VI equalizer
Sony STR-V55 AM-FM/Stereo Receiver
Sony PS-LX2 Auto Stereo Turntable
My question is, when connecting the equalizer and receiver, do I connect from the "Amplifier" connection or the "Tape Recorder" connection? The Sony receiver has RCA hookups and Tape Recorder has "Tape 1 & Rec Out 1" and "Tape 2 & Rec Out 2." I also have his old tape player, but this setup will be strictly limited to vinyls. So, what do I need to connect where to make the records sound the best since the 901s work best when using the equalizer?
Cheers!

You would use one of the Tape Monitor circuits and Amplifier Connections on the Equalizer. Rec from the amp connected to the input of the Equalizer and output from the Equalizer to the Monitor/Input. Then you would engage the Tape1/2 switch on the front of the receiver
If the receiver has jumpers between the amp and pre-amp, you can remove the jumpers and connect the equalizer in place of the jumpers. Same connections, Pre-Amp out to the input on the equalizer and then output of the Equalizer to the Amp input on the receiver. Then you don't have to worry with using the one of the Tape loops.

Many thanks. Forgive me, but I’m having trouble following along. I’m brand new to this—problems of growing up with Bluetooth devices.
