Still have a lot of connections to make though
Is there a fancy through-floor connector, or is the center not hooked up yet?

Center channel is not active yet--I need to acquire a 8m single speaker cable for it. None of the video is connected yet--the piece at the bottom of the right rack is the Anthem receiver (will power the center and in wall rears and pass all video--cable, Apple Mac, and projector).

Now we have a place to sit!
And Mrs. Esquandolas was kind enough to help me sort and alphabetize LPs for about 6 hours yesterday.
I could easily fill the shelves twice over, but decided to leave out a bunch. I had hundreds of records in my hand this weekend which I thought , "ya know, I'm realistically not gonna ever play this"...so it will be stored in the attic with many others until I have another big give away (coming soon!!!). It also isn't cluttered and gives me a little room for new music.
I spent the day sorting out and zip-tying hundreds of cables--HDMI, digital coax, optical, power cords, extension cords, cable coax, RCA cables, USB cables, Apple cables, splitters, etc.--after 10 years of buying new DVD players, Mac gear, Apple phones and Pads, and renting numerous cable boxes, and then stashing all the cords they come with in a giant plastic bin, they start to pile up. I will have about 15 heavy gauge power cords (from the McIntosh gear) free to a good home...just let me know, as I use aftermarket power cords.
A few pics of added stuff --couch, end tables I had laying around, my humidor, and the LPs...
Hopefully I will get the shades and Control4 automation installation completed this week. The projector may be here this week or next by the latest...hen all of the framed posters/artwork gets hanged on the walls and I will finish moving all the small audio knickknacks.
I also need to get longer screws so I can put the electrical panel cover back on. It will be covered with a framed poster.
Last, I need to clear coat the maple shelves I had made for the vintage system that will go on the long wall, put that rack together, and then put the system together.

Man.... I think these Vandys are "opening up". Over the last year I've read a good bit of articles and I think this is what is happening. At least from what I've read described...
Bass seems to be getting deeper and it just seems to be sounding better... cleaner maybe?
Don't know, but I hope I'm not just thinking I'm hearing differences.

Little spin before work...
The Rolling Stones "Exile on Main St.", 2016 Abbey Road Studios half-speed remaster. I needed a clean copy of this, and this reissue sound pretty good to my ears.

On now...just got it in the mail this evening...Donald Fagan--"The Nightfly"
Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab Direct Metal Master, 200g, 2 LPs, 45rpm, 2017.
Words can not describe how incredible this album sounds. It is probably the finest sounding piece of vinyl I own.
This is one of the new Mobile Fidelity Metal Master albums they have been releasing (one about every 8 months).
They are limited to 6000 pressings, and done on (2) 45rpm discs. The packaging is first rate.
I bought a total of 4 copies, as the previous 2 Direct Metal Master LPs are selling for $500+ now. The first was Santana "Abraxix", and the second was The Bill Evans Trio. This Donald Fagan LP is the third in the series.

HerbertFest08,
Yes, the rack pictured is the one I built. The maple shelves were built and cut at a custom woodworking shop in old downtown Covington. I then bought 1.25" threaded rod (Acme threads) from Fastenal, and got the appropriate nuts and washers.
I bought a can of satin clear coat to finish from Sherwin Williams..
While it doesn't have the sheer elegance of a Mapleshade maple rack system, I built mine for about 1/3 the cost of one of theirs. it is also infinitely adjustable.

No idea what the title will be, but it should be announced soon...and when you get the email from music direct, order it that same day, as they sell out quickly.

One of my audio buddies who is an LSU fan and hangs out on the "other" LSU forum brought me a gift for the new room...
It will be displayed proudly among the LP box sets.
