Astral Weeks - Van Morrison - One of the greatest albums of all time?

Just recently discovered this album about a year ago. It is so different from anything that I listen to and it just feels like it is so much more than just a group of songs. It is just something that has stuck with me since I first listened to it. My 3 favorite songs are Astral Weeks, Madam George, Sweet Thing.
Anyone else listen to it and where does it rank all time if at all?

It's a great album. Musicians usually say Veedon Fleece is his best.

Universally accepted as one of the greatest of all time. Nice discovery. Try Pet Sounds next. Great juxtaposition with his next album Moondance. Astral Weeks he told the musicians what he was basically looking for and let them create. Moondance he told them exactly what he wanted. Two very different approaches with brilliant outcomes.

Astral Weeks is one of the greatest albums ever, but Veedon Fleece isn't that far behind.

The bass by Richard Davis is the greatest ever on a rock album
Check out 3 similar albums
Kinks - The Village Green Preservation Society
Love - Forever Changes
Elvis Costello - Imperial Bedroom
These happen to be my top 4 of all time

Great album, such a irreplaceable, free, whimsical vibe. I wish he would have done another album like that, but hard to argue with Moondance as a follow-up.
The opening line on the album is perfect.

His best and most underrated. There is not one bad track on it.
It has a lot of songs that could have been singles. Ballerina and Young Lovers should get played as much as Brown Eyed Girl and Domino.

FYI, the movie Belfast (written and directed by Kenneth Branagh) was released a few weeks ago and the soundtrack is filled with Van Morrison. The music really lifts up this film. Belfast will have multiple Oscar nominations. Highly recommended.

The film was originally conceived with a soundtrack of popular songs from the hit parade of the late sixties but after Branagh and Van Morrison connected, the Belfast musician’s songs gradually took centre stage and the soundtrack is now almost entirely his music: eight songs from his archive, plus a new one written for the film and some haunting instrumental music.
