As technical musicians they weren't the greatest. But no, not even close to overrated. Look at what all they accomplished in a 7 year span. They broke up before any of them were in their 30s. One BILLION records sold. You'd be hard pressed to find a more diverse fanbase. They range from 12 year old girls to 80 year old men. Then you take into consideration that they're much more than a band. They're integrated into pop culture. Just the mention of their names registers with nearly everyone.

I certainly respect what they've done but there is not even one song by them that I like. Just not my style.

the beatles, for lack of a more appropriate word, are musically irrelevant. And not just because they're old. People that I know talk about or mention or play old bands all the time. But just not the beatles. And this has been the case for the entirety of my life.
Thus, the Beatles -- musically speaking -- have not aged well. They are not the Halle Berry of music. More like Christina Aguilera, or any other famous chick who used to be hot and then got ugly early on in the game.

the music produced by the beatles hasn't held up.
Great songs hold up. They get played at parties, and in cars with friends en route to a ski trip or a football game or the bowling alley, and at your girlfriend's house, and at your side joint's house, and in the speakers of the guy next door to you at work.....
I don't hear The Beatles in any of these or a million other settings. And I don't live a sheltered life.

People don't like the beatles. The band never gets brought up. Nobody puts them on a playlist. You won't hear one their songs at a party. This conclusion is supported by what I believe to be a more than sufficient sample size.

I disagreed with bobby about The Beatles, but I thought he was pretty damn funny.

My issue with the Beatles, is people make me feel like I'm stupid because I don't enjoy their music, and I'm pretty certain that if those EXACT songs came out by a different band at the same time, those same people wouldn't like it. I feel like there's a lot of phony, I like them because I'm told I'm supposed to people out there.

Because, overall, the Stones had much more filler music. Seemed to be quantity over quality. I like them, but I don't think they are comparable. Is it only because of the time frame when the music was being made?

Yes! Absolutely and unequivocally. They were different at the time. Dressed up and clean cut, made the girlies scream. But, their music had no real soul touching depth, and has no lasting effect to it. There is not one Beatles song that I would ever download onto my phone, and on my phone I've got: Queen, AC/DC, Michael Jackson, Savage Garden, Meatloaf, Ozzy Osbourne, Smash Mouth, Metallica, Celtic Thunder. Now, "Say Say Say" by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson, yes I would download that, plus I like the video. Actual Beatles songs though, NO!
