They've always sucked. I still marvel at how they can have 50 people onstage and still sound so empty and so devoid of force. The "songs" go nowhere and have limited melodic scope.
But this from Will Butler is about the pussiest shite I think I can imagine:

But this from Will Butler is about the pussiest shite I think I can imagine:
quote:
I’m Not Ready to Perform A great rock-and-roll show means openness, confrontation, and a kind of danger, and those ideas right now feel too heavy to lift.
quote:
But now I have no desire to make tension. I want people to feel safe and comfortable, and I wonder whether creating a feeling of danger and openness is antithetical to that. I know that cultivating a perception of safety and actually making people safe are different. On tour, in a big venue, every night our management and local security have a briefing. It’s partly to set a vibe—People are here for music. Everybody be chill. If some teenager sneaks into a closer section, please let them. But the briefing is also serious—where the medics are located, what the escape routes are. Most of the time, these safety measures are invisible. I worry that post-pandemic precautions, as welcome and necessary as they are, will be depressingly visible. Some elements, such as temperature checks, will be inane. Some, such as requiring vaccination, will be important. Regardless, they will also set a tone—not You are entering a place for music, but You are entering a secure location. Dancing is hard when you’re looking at your feet; singing is hard when you’re thinking about everybody else’s breath. I bet the crowd could get over this. I’m not confident I could. With limited capacities and tight procedures, I worry that the stage will feel like the VIP section of the VIP room at a members-only club. Sterile, lonely, all of us chillingly aware that we are part of a ticketed event.

They think they can mandate vaccinations?

I mean, he kind of has a point if you get past the first couple sentences. What’s so bad about not wanting to play live shows when those shows will be heavily restricted due to Covid?

I've enjoyed some of their early stuff and seen them live and they were good. As for their politics, you know what they are so why are you melting over what he said? Try growing a pair and not getting your panties in a knot everytime a musician expresses an opinion you don't agree with.

From that part you quoted, baw:
I don't get how you can translate that to:
Though he does say
Which is kind of him being selfish and not wanting to play because he wouldn't really be into it...not so much that he's scared.

In a general sense I always tend to side with the person being nonsensically referred to in terms of watching one's girlfriend get fricked by another man. But Arcade Fire kinda suck so... whatever.

I can't imagine giving a frick about this. It's a weird life you're living.

My wife digs this band. Does it read to you like the next time they're performing nearby, Butler wouldn't mind if she and I forego buying the over-priced tickets and just sneak into the front row? That's how this reads to me...

Canadians, man.
the Butler brothers are from the Woodlands, and I'm pretty sure Winn & Regina live in New Orleans at least part of the year...

Pre China virus, Winn was usually courtside behind the basket at Pels games. He always wore some hipster type of hat. He was very easy to recognize.

If COVID-19 made a sound, it would sound like Arcade Fire.

This is a right-wing term which is 100% political.
