Anyone ever attended a concert at Red Rocks in Colorado?

I’ve heard the acoustics there are unmatched in any arena. I’m considering attending a concert there later in the summer and was wondering what other’s experiences have been there.

I think the sound there is fantastic, especially if you sit near the sound board. Pro tip: Don't sit right behind the sound board because it will partially obstruct your view. Sit to one side or 3-4 rows back and you'll be fine.

What show are you going to see?

Been quite a few times. In fact, I just booked my wife and some friends for Lionel Richie in August.

Sound is great, venue is very unique. It has been more commercial since the Denver City Council took it over, but still a great place to see a show. when I say this, I mean that all of the concessions have gotten more expensive and there are more regulations.

If you are not in shape, hire a driver so that you can get dropped off closer to the top.

I recommend this. There are cabs near the lower south lots that will take you to the top of the rocks for $5.

Best venue that I have experienced. The ambiance of a night show there along with the weather, scenery and incredible acoustics is unmatched. HOWEVER, the last couple of times I went the audience there was unbearable. It was about 3 years ago (I think), and it was not long after da weed was legalized. Frat nuts from across the country started overrunning the place, and it was nothing but obnoxious tools ruining the shows.

With that said, my friend who lives there (she stopped going due to the crowds) has told me it has gotten much better. It does appear that the nostalgia of legal weed has worn off, and the regular crowds are back. I sure hope so, because I plan to start going again once my daughter is old enough to stay with my parents for a few days.

It’s a beautiful place to see a show.

It’s no Gorge though.

The Gorge is incredible. I've never been to Red Rocks but would love to.

Red rocks is a bit More intimate than the gorge. The gorge is cool but very big. Almost too big.

I agree with this, but not every band can play a 20k seat venue.

Both places are amazing.

This. Beautiful and spiritual experience for myself. My Wife and I saw John Prine with Kacey Musgraves in 2017, though we did not know either, other than their names (Wife’s Birthday while on family vacation) it was surreal.

Heckin rite, its awesome, although its been since 2011 I have been. Get there early and take everything all in. They have a cool area where they have pictures and items from all the acts that have played there over the years. It really is a special venue, by far the most incredible I have ever been to. I have never been to the Gorge before, but I hear that is on the same level.

I went last summer. We had a double rainbow in the sky behind the stage which seemed fitting, haha. We were at a sold out show and I was surprised by how much room we had at our seats and the amount of space at the concessions. Total opposite from the feel of a typical concert or festival. Definitely be prepared to hike straight up a hill. We took a party bus from DT Denver. You might want to look into those.

I saw Karla Bonoff open for America there, I think it was 1980. The best venue I've ever been in. Karla's vocals sounded fantastic. America was decent early but were trashed by the end. They forgot the lyrics to Horse With No Name in the middle of the encore and just stumbled off the stage without finishing the song.
