I'll check in on this. Hatchet was a pretty good band.
Flirting with Disaster, Gator Country, Dreams and quite a few other songs by them were quite good.

Fall of the Peacemakers is my favorite.

Yes. I do confuse them and.38 Special at times but Hatchett was a little harder edge.

Wish I could see them again. They never get anywhere close to Louisiana though. There is an acoustic version of Dreams I’ll Never See that I wish I could find.

Unfortunately they are pretty much a tribute band now. Most of the original members are dead.

This goes for the entire Southern Rock genre

Been a fan since the debut album and have known the guys in Hatchet for a very long time; my name is on a couple of CD liner notes....yeah subtle brag

As a kid, I saw their record sleeves in my cousins record collection and thought they were some Heavy, Death Rock kind of band...

My first concert, well after the guy who was the Ted Nugent look-alike. Thibodaux, I think, in 1981. I was 12 years old.

Dave Hlubek and Danny Joe Brown. Very talented band and put out some great stuff. Saw 'em a couple of times with early lineups.
My only complaint is they used Peavey amps which grates on the ears after a while.

My BIL at the time knew I was a southern rock fan so when I was visiting them just after the debut albums release, he handed me the album and said give it a listen. I put it on and was hooked after 10 seconds of "Bounty Hunter".

Danny Joe Brown Band and "The Edge of Sundown". That's a gem just about nobody's heard before. Great song to unleash out of a bottom of the hour station jingle at dusk.

In. I’ve relayed this before but what the hell...
Saw them at the Texas club with my brother and cousin, pretty sure in ‘85. When we got there I was surprised to see tables set up on the floor in front of the stage. Thought to myself that it wasn’t very smart. Sure enough, probably two songs in there were people standing on just about every one of those tables. I moved my way on up and found room on one for myself. They wound up kinda getting cleared away but when the lights came up afterward there were quite a few broken ones scattered about.
Man they kicked some serious arse up in there that night.
And I never saw tables on the floor for a concert there again.

Saw the band in St Joe Mo back in 81/82. I had seats 2-3 rows from the stage, the band I was playing with was covering some of their songs so I was trying to steal every lick I could. Lol!

Last time I saw them Danny Joe Brown was still singing, probably late 90’s early 2000’s but he didn’t look well. Not sure what he died from but he was very frail looking.

All of the official causes are "diabetes related" and being diabetic was a factor IF you add in that Danny Joe really liked to have a good time and Jack was his best friend. Danny had a stroke in the mid-90s and that's when Phil McCormick took over fulltime as lead vocalist. Prior to that Phil would "fill in" when Danny....just couldn't make the show.

Yeah, it was probably the mid 90’s, my how time has flown. Saw them in KC at the old Spirit Fest.

Love Molly Hatchet.
Saw them at the Plush Horse in Huntsville around late 80's.
Kicked arse!
