70's were the golden age of rock music

After seeing the Eagles last month, I've just been on a 70's rock kick. Don't get me wrong, I love rock from just about any decade. From mid 60s to modern day. And I love metal from it's beginning to modern day. But nothing comes close to the 70's in quality rock music.
Boston, Eagles, Journey, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Aerosmith, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Kansas, Queen, Rush, Judas Priest, AC/DC, Van Halen, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac. I could go on and on.
Majority of this music holds up well today, even though some of it is over 50 years old.

It was phenomenal and the concerts were like $5 or $6.
I love seeing young teenagers at a Who concert, appreciating the great music that was created back then.

Rock is the only thing the 70s have over the 80s.
OK, maybe country too, but that’s more debatable.

50s rock > 70s rock > 60s rock > 80s > 90s

After I pressed post, there were about 15 artists I realized I forgot. KISS would be on that list.
Can't name them all.

If the band came out in the 70s, good chance they were really good.

70's R&B was incredible too.
The entire Philadelphia International catalogue by itself is fantastic.

Earth, Wind & Fire's All 'n All was right there in my tape box with Zeppelin and the Doobies. Commodores too. The Isley's Who's That Lady is still prime for a movie soundtrack.

I was a teenager during the 80’s but those childhood memories of 70’s music had a huge impact on me. It was raw, stripped down rock. 80’s rock got too computerized and synthed out.

Pretty much the golden age for all music.

Those are just the heavy hitters. A lot of innovation in that decade as well: Can, Kraftwerk, Talking Heads, Television, Sex Pistols, Clash, Ramones, Black Sabbath. Basically, the beginning of metal, punk, techno, disco, new wave, etc.

Amen to this and it continued into the early 80's. I have a ticket stub from a Van Halen concert in 1982 that cost $7.50. It's hard to believe when you look at today's ticket prices for the top acts

It would cost $750 just to see Wolfie play. Not Wolfie's band. Just Wolfie.
