Is Chapman out? Dead? Or still in prison?

Dumb enough to let Hinckley out…..

I'm not an expert at "basic" math, but he was shot and killed on December 8th, 1980 so that would mean he was killed 41 years ago since this is 2021.

Today is also the anniversary of the killing of Dimebag. Didn't realize it was the same day. Pretty shitty

From hearing all the lore, I always had this impression that John was this snobby hipster who thought he was too good for the Beatles toward the end, though I always appreciated and loved his songwriting. After watching Get Back, I've come to realize that's a load of crap. He seemed like such a genuine and authentic guy in the film, and for some reason that makes me even more sad that he went out the way he did.

I think we could have seen a Beatles reunion at some point had he not died.

john's last interview, recorded for playboy in september 1980 and published january 1981. it's genuinely heartbreaking to read

And come to think of it, it looks like I'm going to be 40 and life begins at 40-- so they promise. And I believe it, too. I feel fine and I'm very excited. It's like, you know, hitting 21, like, 'Wow, what's going to happen next?

I rarely post here (Music Board) but this subject brought me out of the woodwork.

John is an interesting study to me and to many others.

He's been gone now longer than he lived.

I was walking on the street in Salt Lake City in the evening when some passerby told me he'd been killed.

Strange days indeed.

It took me a long time to appreciate some of his avant-garde stuff because I'm not avant-garde myself.

I had a dear friend who is also now departed. He could be very pithy and sarcastic in his humor. He said in reference to Chapman, "He shot the wrong Lennon."

I must admit to appreciating that comment more than I should.

Man, first time I watched that movie, that Lennon scene was a gut punch from out of nowhere. I didn’t know whether to smile, cry, laugh or what. Really got me in the feels.

That's how I found out. Bill Mallory was heard to say at The Bayou "They shot the wrong Beatle."

Crazy that his last photo was him signing an autograph for Mark David Chapman.

WTF is wrong with people?
