Solid list, but FYI....
I hated all of those bands before anyone else.

Maybe
I'm not a "musical genius". I can't play an instrument.
I just like the jams. I don't even care for thier catalog, I never listen to studio stuff and frequently skip the song portions to get to the jams.
But I'd love to hear some 2010's hipster proto-elctro-clash-psychobilly-folk-fricking whatever bullshite band pull off a 35 minute coherent jam with 5 different distinct thematic sections LIVE ON THE FLY

No one claims their studio stuff is good. Couldn't tell you the last time I listened to any studio Phish.
That said, their live peformances are simply legendary and hold up with anything recorded in a studio.

Is phish the band non-musicians like to listen to?
Seems like its some sort of insecurity issues that they project onto people that don't listen to them in order to feel like they are superior or something.
With that being said, they are musically talented of course, but their recorded stuff is terribly boring from a musician stand point. There's no edge, and I find them kind of boring honestly. I've tried to get into them but never could.
I just find it funny that people that don't play music push phish as the end all be all band of the universe when they don't even understand what they are doing.
Guess it doesn't matter if you're fricked up on drugs though!
dude you should go troll pt

With mild exception this list really goes back 20 years. If the writer was really going back 30 years you would touch on the Culture Club, Lionel Ritchie, Kenny Logins, Duran/Duran's, etc. of the world. I recall a large amount of hate reigning down on these bands....

That really is a solid list. Can't argue with most other than john mayer.. I think people hate him cause he gets the OT 10s on the regular.
I have no problem with DMB or Blink 182 personally
Creed Nickelback Limp Bizkit(although I still jam 3 dollar bill yall)
Linkin Park should be higher

I can't play a lick, that doesn't mean I am not a huge fan of music, or that I don't understand it.
I don't play football either, doesn't mean I don't know wtf I'm talking about?
Yes, that's exactly what it means. If you cant play or compose music, then how can you understand it? You dont understand it. You just like it. Also, football is a horrible analogy. Just because youve played Madden on playstation or pay attention to what Cris Collinsworth is saying doesnt mean you "know" football. In a base 4-3 defense, when playing a cover 2 scheme, who's responsible for the flats on the weak side? If youve never played, you more than likely wont know that, and that's a basic of football.

Ok, then I know nothing. But why are you so angry about it?

Not counting "boy bands" (and without checking the link):
DMB
Nickelback
Train
John Mayer (not sure if that counts)

Not angry. I only responded to you like because you responded in a condescending tone to someone else.

Didnt realize there was such a thing. And yes, Ive played in a few cover bands. Ive been in more original bands, one of which made enough money to pay for school completely.
