Just curious to see if anyone in here is familiar with what equipment is needed to do videos for a YouTube channel. My 11 year son is wanting this for Christmas and I have no idea what is needed. Please help!

I’m sure there’s a video on YouTube about it somewhere.

Every kid wants to be the next YouTube or TikTok star. Are you sure you want an 11 Year Old out there with all of the nasty comments and perverts staking kids?

This is what I was going to say. But that aside, is there any "equipment" you need besides a camera (phone?), internet access, and a YouTube account?

A phone would be the most basic way to do it. If you really want to go all out you need a real camera, microphone, lights, and a desktop with video editing capabilities most likely a Mac with Final Cut Pro. Should be able to get all that for under 10 grand.

Camera
Sound
Lights
And a method to put it all together
Good quality can be had at a good price.
Don’t overspend, allow the kid to grow into better equipment

Don't they sell kits for these? A cheap one to see if the kid goes forward with it, then build up to the better gear?

your 11 year old doesn't need a youtube channel. if he does get one, make the videos private so no one else can see them. too many pervs out there- it would never happen in my house.

The best answer is a cellphone. Lots of very popular Youtubers just use their cellphone.

What if the kid earns $7+ million a year talking about marvel and cartoons?

And the dad gets to keep it for 7 more years or until the kid gets emancipated

get a Rode microphone, a camera that has a screen that flips to front view to be able to see where you are pointing while vlogging.

a lot of youtubers put what equipment they use in the description of their video. so go look through those.

tripod

Since you want to play the what if game, what if this kid is kidnapped, molested and left in a field or maybe never found? What if this kid gets merciless bullied online and ends up hanging himself because a kid can't process the torment?

You can't possibly be a parent making a comment like that.
