For a long time I thought the Exorcist and Hellraiser were the most horrifying. Then I watched House of a 1000 Corpses and Event Horizon.
If there is a directors cut of EH.....

There was. Unfortunately, the majority of the additional 30 minutes of film has been deteriorated to the point of being unrecoverable.
The "Original Cut" was apparently too gruesome and disturbing for Paramount and test audiences.
We'll likely never actually get to see the deleted content.

The Ring-not so much disturbing, but man that left you with a really unsettling feeling leaving the movie theater

Freaks has to be in this list.

Just like Event Horizon, the unfortunate reality is we will never get to see Tod Browning’s cut of Freaks. Apparently there was a castration scene! 1930s audiences were not ready.

The Blackcoat’s Daughter
Started out so slowly, I almost jumped shipped, but holy smokes, it was creepy as hell.

“Audition”
It’s a Japanese flick. I was watching an interview with Rob Zombie and he referenced this movie saying that no other movie messed with his head like this one did. Tracked down a copy of it and good grief, he wasn’t kidding.

Bone Tomahawk. Not the cannibalism scene. The pre-natal unit in the cave.

Event Horizon
I love this movie so much and I don’t care who makes fun of me. I do wish we could have seen the movie that was planned and not the one that was rushed.
After reading through the thread I see I have found my people

The ones that jacked me up as a kid are:
Halloween (overall greatest horror movie of all time)
Children of the Corn (that chanting music and the creepy preacher kid who was in charge)
The Ring (well done overall and very creepy)
Blair Witch Project (Saw it opening weekend before you knew it was all fake. Their campaign on internet was well done making it seem like a found documentary. Now it’s hard to get through 5 minutes of it once you know)
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Now I think every decrepit old house I see in the country probably has a dead body in it)

but the hotel scenes in the sequal, The Devil's Rejects, were disturbing on another level...almost too real.
You and I are on the same page.

1. Event Horizon Can't really remember many others that I didn't want to watch again other than this.
My exact sentiments.
