Things change with new information
When I did that, there probably wasn't anyone saying that.
If I am the one bringing it up on here, my "fans" will say that I am saying it will flop. . .or that I am hoping it will flop. So I wait for others to bring it up, first.
I hope it is great. Only person that seemed out of place in the trailer, is Tom Holland. I feel like he is going to drag this down by being Peter Parker.

Spiderman could definitely delay Odysseus as he tries to return to Ithaca.

Helen of Troy, Alabama.

So cringe.
Helen was a Mycenaean Greek:
Ancient Greek literature describes Helen's physical traits as the ultimate standard of Mediterranean beauty, though these descriptions reflect idealized myths rather than strict genetic realities:
Hair: Homer and later Roman poets frequently describe her as having xanthos hair, which translates to golden, blonde, or bright auburn.
Skin: She is repeatedly called "white-armed" (leukolenos), a common epic formula used to denote high status and beauty, as noble women did not work outside in the sun.
Eyes: Later classical writers described her as having large, striking, and luminous eyes, often comparing them to the eyes of a goddess.

Helen may not have even existed.
Very little is known about her

The exciting part about this movie will be how many people get to be called racist for their negative response
Homer described Helen as a white-armed, fair-skinned, fair-haired goddess. In artwork and literature from the time she mostly appears blonde haired and blued eyed, which would've been rare in that area of the world and makes sense she could be the motivation for a war.
I don't care about race, I care about the source material. Her very specific physical appearance is literally the most important detail of her character.

Completely throwing Homer's description of Helen of Troy in the garbage aside, Tom Holland saying "dad" in the trailer is what made me decide to not see this in theater

Agreed and I think she's a pretty good actress.
It's just miscasting to pander. It's absurd.

Except what Homer described her physical appearance as in the damn source material

It seems like most people don't know the source material. Helen is a very minor character in The Odyssey. I don't like the casting either but she is going to be a minor part in the movie.

It's just evidence that he's going rogue with the source material in a big way and his casting is suspect.
But like I said up above, Tom Holland saying "dad" in the trailer put a really bad taste in my mouth, worse than Helen being Kenyan.

Because dad isn't mentioned in the English translation of The Odyssey? Or that it seems not in line with an epic? There actually is a Greek word for dad so it's not like it's that crazy. I saw someone else have this complaint and I don't really get it.

So? Probably still a fictional character.
You could describe King Arthur, even from the source material.
Still doesn't mean he existed.

Seems so out of place. Might as well be followed up with "wanna have a catch?"

liberals are celebrating as we speak. Everything they touch turns to shite
this might be the worst casting ever in a movie

It's just a more modern and casual/informal colloquialism that seems extremely out of place in The Odyssey.
Watch that trailer again and imagine he just says "father" instead. Hearing "dad" just felt like knives in my ears during that scene
