This or the sorcerer’s stone.
Probably in the minority but I enjoyed the first half of the saga more than the last few stories. Probably because my kids are younger and so into it.
I always thought the ending was pretty rushed in comparison to the amount of time she spent on events earlier in the series.

If you’re talking about the movies then I agree. As the books got longer, the movies got shorter. Growing up I was always disappointed when I got out of the theatre for a new movie. So much was always left out.

Really meant both. Always thought battle of hogwartz and aftermath were kind of rushed. It was like boom A, B, and C died. Let’s skip forward now.

The books always followed a formula.
School year starts : Problem presents itself.
Oh shite it’s June : Time to wrap it up.
So I get that, but it’s how every book in the series has been. I definitely wouldn’t have been opposed to a more drawn out ending and conclusion.

Which to be fair, should have been a warning to us all about what was coming from Rowling. But that's another topic altogether.

I wonder if Rowling regrets not making Ginny Weasley a more central character given her relevance later.

Prisoner and Goblet, to me, are the very best of the series. We learn more about Hogwarts’ past, meet important former students/new teachers and finally see Voldemort in all his evilness.
The acting (from the young cast) is dramatically improved. The narrative direction shifts jarringly (In a good way) as the cast move from being children to teens.
The score for Prisoner is thematically dramatic- very impressive.
Nailed it.

Order of the Phoenix has a special place for me because it was the first one I took my son to see in the theater and he loved it.
We saw every one after together and saw DH2 at midnight on opening day.

To me it's probably 3/4.
I am NOT a fan of Order. Umbridge just makes me angry

POA and SS are the only Potter movies I would consider watching in the future.
HBP was my favorite book and the movie was so bad that I finally was able to convince my wife we shouldn't bother seeing the final two movies at the theater.
OOTP was my 2nd favorite book and the movie was so horrifically bad that I never sat through it again.
We watched DH1 on DVD and thought it was okay. DH2 we thought was awful. Went back to rewatch DH1 afterwards and quit after maybe 20-30 minutes - it was just as bad the finale.
The HP film franchise had every possible mistake made in terms of adapting a fantasy series.
- no set plan for the story (unfinished when they began)
- poor casting decisions for the leads (notoriously difficult to cast child actors)
- no one director to carry out the vision, which didn't exist
- no soul or passion from the filmmakers, just the giant sucking sound of WB corporate vacuuming up as much money as possible
It was the exact opposite of its contemporary "rival" LOTR.

Snape
The late, great Alan Rickman. RIP.
But to my generation(Gen X) Snape will always be Hans Gruber.
And to answer the question, Prisoner of Azkaban.

If they do the HBO series (which I think they’re going to), I do think Adam Driver is a no brainer for Snape.

I don’t know why but I love the first two films. I actually love the first 5. It seemed more “Magical” when they were younger.

Dumbledores army.
Harry’s struggles.
And the bitch Dolores.

The first one and Goblet of Fire are infinitely rewatchable to me.
Agreed. I liked the movies when they were more whimsical and the danger was sorta hidden in the shadows. Just way more interesting and way more relatable.
Them as teens fighting in a war against Voldemort, never did much for me at all. The last few movies are just bleak.

The last few movies are set so flipping dark that I have to close all of the blinds in my living room to see them properly if viewing during the day.
