Finished this weekend. Was good, but felt so over the top.

Not that the other seasons didn’t have unrealistic plots, but this went way over the top.

Spoilers:

So the kid finds Joe on camera getting into his step moms car but his dad doesn’t after weeks of combing through camera footage? Come the frick on

Also, the whole measles “vaxed” thing was so forced and a massive virtue signal around Covid

The ending was depressing, him abandoning the kid…

I’d say Season 2>3>1

I'm only like 4 episodes or so in, so I don't know if this gets addressed, but they load the neighbors body into her Tesla. Tesla's have 360 cameras around the vehicle and are always recording.

The data is probably stored locally or in a cloud and it would be easy for the detectives to solve the murder in minutes...

Not everyone watching the show would know that about Tesla's, but to me that seems like a massive plot hole to use that vehicle.

Hoping to start season 3 this week. Ready to see what the crazies get themselves in to this season.

Only seen 3 episodes so far.

But after this last one with the whole issue of vax v. anti-vaxxers. I feel like the original script had to do with the Covid vax with the baby getting sick. I mean they've already alluded to dealing with Covid in the show.

Imo likely a Netflix exec or somebody higher up decided to shut that down so the show wouldn't instantly become politically divisive.

just finished season 3. still entertaining and definitely still enjoyed it, but this was the weakest season imo.

Read an interview with the showrunner. I think they started filming in February 2020 before Covid took off meaning the plot/script was largely done. Probably some minor changes like the vax issue when they came back to finish it. That’s why there are references to covid but no major plot points. She did say covid/masks would have been interesting to play around with Joe.

And end game spoiler…

The actress playing Love knew her character’s story arc from the beginning if not specifics. It didn’t surprise me but it definitely felt weird to see that conclusion. I was hoping they’d go international for season 4 and this looks promising.

Spoilers:

Again, the giving up the kid was depressing as shite...

And as I said, my biggest issue is the huge plot hole of the son finding the video of Joe getting into his step mom's car, but his dad didn't? Come the frick on, that would be one of the first cameras he would watch.

I love how easy they make cheating look. in the end I'm glad Joe got out alive. Love is way worse than Joe

Spoiler:

You mean Joe’s new obsession? Jussssttt about made me lose interest in the story when that romance started happening. I hope we don’t get an entire season 4 of Joe trying to track her down.

The song they chose towards the end, Exile, was an exceptional choice and perfectly placed.

Season 3 wasn’t necessarily my favorite overall, but the thought put into the writing is apparent throughout.

I enjoyed it, but the plot is so over the top. Had me saying 3-4 times an episode, "yeah frickin right." Finale was really good and I liked how they wrapped everything up.

SPOILER:

I was happy to see that the coffee and cream couple lived. They were shitty people, but sort redeemed themselves, or at least their marriage.

The idiot kid, not so much. He was an annoying character.

I finished it last night, I really could have done without some of the liberal snark forced into the show.

Antivax stuff
Qanon

And there was a line from Loves mom about Republicans accepting the elections that was so clunky and forced it didn't even feel like believable dialogue.

Yeah they really turned up the social/political commentary this season. “White man bad,” anti vaxx, Qanon, Republicans, globohomo, forced interracial pairings etc. Oh and they totally wasted Scott Speedman.

All in all, the season was a chore and I think they’re out of ideas about how to keep the story moving along.
