Oh cool, another excuse for the gay posters to fly to the porch light like moths and attack "this board" without ever saying shite about the movie or show in discussion. frick off.

ESPN, Disney Channel Each Lost 2M Subscribers

Those are linear cable subscriptions. The lost subscribers are lost subscribers for all of cable. You can make your point without posting knowingly misleading sources.

Though your point here is weird. Disney is doing poorly on Wallstreet? What tech/media company isnt?

They're getting their asses kicked financially, and no, it's not inline with other tech/media companies. Layoffs. Hiring freeze. New (old) CEO. These are not things prosperous companies do. Is that simple enough for you?

But to be clear, the only 'point' of this thread was just 'hey, look. more gay shite from Disney.'

People in general: why do we need all these different types of protagonists front and center- they are distracting.

Also people in general: Why can't I just watch protagonists that look and act just like me?

People suck in general. However, this show is pretty ho hum because it is a stupidly written YA farce, not because it has gay relationships.

Again,it isn't that simple, but besides that....

I think it's safe to say that the majority of people in here having an issue don't look anything like Willow and want that character, that doesn't represent them at all, to stay that way.

Not that Willow is the subject matter of the thread, but that they love the hero despite him looking and acting nothing like them. This has always been a dumb argument. Good characters are good characters regardless of gender, race, size, etc.

On top of that, you know what else I don't want in Willow despite being a Christian?

Christianity. It has no place in that world, and I would hate for any dumb Christian rewrite of Willow to inject Jesus in. That's terrible. Just like it's terrible to inject other misplaced moral views in the film.

Nope. I'm not advocating for people to stop subscribing to Disney+. I maintain that not watching this garbage on Disney+ is more effective. Not doing what you think I should do does not make me a hypocrite in any way.

They're already losing tons of money on this platform. Seeing what people do and don't actually watch is what will force them to fix it. If the only people subscribing are the ones who watch this woke crap then the result will be more woke crap. They need to see that subscribers reject this.

It was no big deal. It was not a focus of the story.

When creators of shows these days explicitly tout their "diversity" or "inclusiveness", it feels forced and suggests to audiences it doesn't offer much else of a reason to watch; the exact opposite of "organic".

Nicely put.

I was excited about seeing this show and watched the movie right before starting. Terribly disappointed- for what you said above was distracting and obvious above all. I couldn’t make it through the first episode.

So, I went and read that producer Jonathan Kasdan, wanted a more “contemporary sound.” He then added:

quote:

What’s interesting is — I hope and I believe we’re at a moment where you’re going to see a paradigm shift in that,” said the Solo: A Star Wars story writer. “And hopefully, the way that it’s gonna happen is that these kinds of [queer] stories, particularly like this one, that were just organic to the narrative we were telling, find their way in, and it becomes less of a surprising and unusual thing to see.”

“Because it’s a part of the landscape of the world around us, just like the diversity elements of casting,” continued Kasdan.

“If you look at the original Willow, by no fault of anyone, it’s not very diverse,” he then asserted. “And as we enter 2022, the world has changed, in the way we’re absorbing entertainment, and the faces we’re reflecting in entertainment have expanded enormously, and we hope the show can be growing as the world grows.”

The series did a horrible job of making this organic in the first episode - there definitely was nothing organic about it. It was forced and it looks/feels forced, to the point that it ruined the whole thing - for me anyway.

The company that s bragged about having a “not so secret gay agenda” shoehorned a gay romance into one of their shows.

Gotta say I didn’t see that one coming.
