I put this movie up with the best superhero movies.
My friends that are hardcore X fans hated it. I don't really give a shite about any X titles after the original run started by Kirby. So I really don't care that the mutants are appearing out of order.
Great performances, great effects, great story.

if you're looking for generally a great film and fantastic drama, characters, and plot, then you should like this film.

SPOILERS
Probably the only problem I had with this movie was Magneto as a child going "rawrrrrrrrrrr" for 5 minutes after they shoot his mom. I wanted to laugh.
He was saying "No" in German.
"Neiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin"

The last 30 minutes are the weakest part of the movie...

bump
Saw it yesterday, and absolutely LOVED it. Not into some of the "mutants," but overall, Professor X was sassy AND sexy...and Magneto was lame.

these are the only people I know who didn't like it. I have enjoyed all of the X movies. 2&3 weren't very good, but still enjoyed them. I think they only line I ever quote from any of these movies is "don't you know who I am? I'm the juggernaut bitch". That doesn't make the movie good, but still lol'd.

The acting of McAvoy and Fassbender made this movie, hands down. I think a lot of people don't like this because unlike most action movies, it has good acting and dialog. My friend is a hardcore X-Men, and he loved it, but he did point out inconsistencies in the history of some of the characters compared to the original comics. He said if they would just call this a re-boot, he would have no problem with it.

Couple of Questions
1. In Orgins Wolverine's girlfriend can control minds and her sister turns to Diamones. Are they Frost's daughters.
2. Is the Sabertooth in x1 and Orgins the same person?

Who gives a shite about that film? There's no reason to maintain consistancy with that film.

My friends were all pondering when exactly in the Wolverine timeline did that cameo take place? Still have his memory?

Just saw it last night. I thought it was very good until the final action scene, which wasn't as good as the action scenes in the first two X-men movies.
January Jones as Emma Frost was a truly inspired casting choice. Kevin Bacon, though, every time he came on screen I didn't think "oh it's Sebastian Shaw" I thought "oh it's Kevin Bacon."

Come on man. The tits were fantastic but the acting was so bad that it took me out of every scene she was in.
One of the worst performances that I've seen in a long time.

Well, it's largely based on looks. January Jones in real life looks almost exactly like Emma Frost in a comic book, and given the way comic book women are shaped that's almost physically impossible
But I also always thought of Emma Frost as being very inscrutable and hard to read. That's how Jones played her - the White Queen shouldn't be overtly emotional. I will admit there was one line that just went completely dead. I don't remember what it was but I remember thinking it at the time; it stuck out because it was the end of a scene.
I also really, really liked the kid who played Hank McCoy. He did a great job of portraying the optimistic attitude of the original X Men, who were a bunch of all-American, strait laced middle and upper class teenagers. He made the character very likable, as I think Beast is supposed to be.

Great movie, one of the best Marvel and comic movies of all time, IMO.
