I haven't read through the thread to see if it's brought up, but do they ever mention how Xavier managed to pull his body back together? I know they had the post credit scene in The Last Stand where he calls out to Moira, but who's body was that? I figured that his mind was to powerful to destroy but it doesn't change the fact that Phoenix ripped him apart in the last movie.

It doesn't particularly matter. Ratner fricked up, but Singer just said "frick it". It has a flimsy continuity.

his consciousness was transferred to the brain dead body of his twin brother at the end of X3 (post credits scene). remember the body wakes up and speaks to Moira. as for why he can't walk with a new body, that's another story. but in the comics, he's re-gained the ability to walk only to have something cripple him again (I think more than once), so that's not necessarily a big deal.

Yea but it's not like it's a normal continuity error. Dude is fricking dead in the last movie and they just act like it never happened. Now, it should have never happened to begin with, but they could've taken 30 sec to a minute to explain how he got his body back.

Well that makes sense. I didn't know he had a twin and that wasn't alluded to in the post credit scene. That would have taken 10 seconds to say in the movie lol.

Did we ever get an explanation on Professor X still being alive when Wolverine clearly remembers killing Jean?

where did his "twin" come from? i thought it was just a random guy that he spoke about earlier in the movie. does he say its his twin?

Simon Kinberg (who wrote both x3 and DOFP) said they wanted to put something in there explaining but it just didnt fit. it was too awkward. he said it was the combined efforts of a few different mutants.

quote:

“We tried at some point in Days of Future Past having some dialogue about how he was brought back together,” said Kinberg. “It was using other mutant powers to reconstitute him. [But] we just didn’t end up putting it in the movie that had enough explanations and exposition already in it.” In other words, they just wanted Prof. X back, damnit.

I'm glad a few things were retconned, made for a better experience.

I thought it was great. Yes, Captain America 2 was great too, but this is definitely one of my favorite Xmen movies, if not my favorite (we'll see after multiple viewings). As a standalone movie, I'm not sure, a lot of things I liked were nods and tie-ins to it's predecessors. Awesome Xmen movie, nonetheless.

Time travel movies usually leave me trying to justify it's paradoxes and whatnot, but I walked away from this one feeling pretty fulfilled due to Hank's quantum theory explanation.

Not bothered at all by the lack of Avengers-like action scenes. The story kept me invested and ultimately satisfied. If movies continued to try to top other movies in the amount of action and CGI used each passing year, then I fear the worst. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some cool special effects, things blowing up n stuff, but story is what's important. CGI comes after, meant to enhance what has already but put into place.

Also, with the JFK reference in this movie, I just remembered the opening scene in Xmen 2 with nightcrawler, when he stood in a similar pose as the portrait of JFK behind him. Minor, but I like it even more now.

supposedly Ratner says this in some commentary on the X3 dvd. can't confirm since nobody I know would want to own X3 lol.

thanks for your link though, it somewhat addressed my biggest issue with the movie - Kitty's newfound ability to project ppl's consciousness back in time. I realize some mutants' powers evolve in the comics, but it would've been nice to have a quick line about hers doing so in the movie.

that was also my main gripe. but if you think about it, it isnt THAT big of a leap and it was a nice nod to the source material of having be a part of the central story.

that interview is actually really well done though. they did put a lot of thought into things, which clearly they did not for x3

I thought it was decent, but not mind blowing like others here seem to believe. Captain America was much better IMO.

I kind of wish they would abandon any pretense of continuity altogether and just make one off movies based on new original stories using the characters that makes the story easer to tell.

Kind of the direction they went with first class but even further.

the newest movie is always "mind blowing" and gives "chills" to many of the posters here. I'll never understand it.

-I've never had my mind "blown away" by a movie.
-I've never gotten "chills" watching moving pictures on a wall.

What's happened to the masculine constitution of this country?

well, that like, sucks, man. its hard to beat a great movie that you really connects with you on different levels.

does any art form give you "chills?"

Not really. I always found that to be somewhat gay to be honest. The most I am affected by art would be through music (scores) I guess.
