Exactly

When talking Coogler, you have to talk race

BECAUSE THAT IS ALL HE KNOWS HOW TO DO

As a director:

Fruitvale Station
Creed
Black Panther
Wakanda Forever
Sinners

Coogler and Jordan Peele

Hollywoods much celebrated one-note singers

Even with the indian lead, count on him being constantly denigrated by the power of black

And don't be surprised people think your show will focus on race, when you hire a guy that always makes his projects about race.

Wouldn't have matter who was the showrunner for you and yours once you saw the casting.

iId say a couple of things here:

Certain common trends then happen when you have minorities in major roles.

1.First, as said previously the black woman heroes character has to have carefully constructed interactions with white dudes. it becomes less natural and more structured to "not offend. Things like this must be embedded in the subtext of the show. This is the same thing as the white girl "Mary Sue" amazing hero - it's not just about race. Female heroes also have benefits when they are cast.

2. White guys can no longer be any sort of hero here, and most likely, will comprise most of the villains. The Shadow group will still exist here, it will still be all white dudes. Which is now, unnatural, if you are casting minorities as "part of society."

3. You MUST have at least some episodes, or a strand, on minority injustice or immigrant relations because these people are minorities, and it Must happen, because that's their "worldview" or whatever.

The general result right now, is that by casting minorities into roles in well beloved franchises - creators automatically bring along with them all of these "rules," and requirements, while also usually seeking to also subvert your expectations. These two things combine to create terrible stories that feel disjointed. Out of sync with the original, etc.

And the fan reaction is that where they want more of what they love, they get -- whatever this is. Now could they avoid all of this? Of course. They could even do it with this cast. But they never do.

They could cast Hamish as just a 3rd generation normal American guy, went to public school served as a Marine, etc. who's grandparents happen to be from India or something. But they won't do that. They never do.

What I'm trying to articulate, and what most people see in these sorts of productions, is that by casting minorities, which in theory people wouldn't have a problem with, you automatically get a whole bunch of other things that people see coming. And I'm not even mentioning series, like the Watchmen thing, which upend the entire point of the original to hammer into your head social justice ideas.

I'm doing a full watch of the original X-Files because I had never seen the full series and I'm shocked at how funny some of the episodes are. I most recently watched "Bad Blood" (S5E12) and it was hysterical.

Not really a fan of the Mytharc episodes, but the MotW episodes are fantastic.

Bad Blood is one of the best episodes of the whole series between the straight comedy and the whole Rashomon storytelling.

Mulder drugged off his arse singing the Shaft theme is probably the best part.

Interesting you focused on this and not the point he was making.
