I got to thinking last night after watching Talking Dead when the series creator made the comment about trying to see how far they could go before the AMC censors made them stop.

Apparently the show was pitched to HBO, and they passed. Would this show have been as superbly done if they added the inevitable cussing and nudity that accompanies most shows on HBO? Would that have taken away from it?

Great, now you've got me thinking about all the scenes where Maggie and Andrea were partially nude.

Those are available to be seen elsewhere on the web, fyi.

Sorry, no link.

Does it really need it? They havent exactly skimmed on the authenticity of the scenes.

as of right now, it doesn't seem like they need it, but in the future, the budget might limit them from some things that they might want to do

I don't know, just speculating

I don't think nudity would have added much of anything to the show so no.

The violence is high enough, and I don't really think nudity would add much to the show. IMO they already do a good job with TWD and the difference would not be very much if it were on HBO.

I couldn't believe when I started it a few weeks ago on netflix, then caught comepletely up in one week that AMC is letting the graphic violence being shone so liberally.

I love it, but it doesn't need cussing or nudity. You get a maggie hand bra and Andrea's thong. Would
Rick saying "frick these shithead walkers" make it better?

Is there any show on TV that wouldn't be better on HBO?

You can't even post a pick with a hand bra on here, so they are getting away with quite a bit.

The violence/gore isn't an issue. TWD has to be the goriest tv show in recent memory on a cable network.

Language could make some scenes more realistic as I know I would be shouting every cuss word in the book if a walker came near me. Doesn't ruin the impact without the f-bomb though.

Nudity, meh. Not really needed in a show about the ZA.

The question is absolutely without question YES. Not only from a nudity standpoint, but for censorship purposes. Furthermore, the writing on HBO shows is vastly superior to anything you see on cable networks.

Exactly. Everyone saying it would just be about nudity and cussing isn't looking at the whole story

Funding would be higher, which would have meant better actors (sorry some of these actors are really terrible) and overall would have just been better funded. Meaning better props, crew, would have had more time to film, and it would overall just be a cleaner, tighter show.

I love walking dead, I really do, but money almost always helps a show. You can just afford to do more.

Totally agree. And more eloquently stated. Budget superiority (for sets, actors, writers, etc.) is the primary reason it would be so much better on HBO.

No Commercials.

this season it seems like the ads are overpowering the show
