I let my wife pick the movie on our first date, and she chose The Other Boleyn Girl. It was an awful first date movie, but luckily we were the only ones there so we just talked the whole time.

eta: She doesn't get to make decisions like that anymore.

LOL. We are very happy. She just reminds people all the time about how uncomfortable it was watching that movie with me for our first date. I had no problem with gratuitous sex scenes with masks.

Gone Baby Gone was another one. Our simple discussion of the movie got heated

eta- just about any movie that explores relationships or the differences in men/women would be that way. Especially if someone is cheating

I saw it once..no idea how that would play out for a date.. "Hey just make sure to behave or otherwise I'll chop your head off like Henry VIII and trade you in. No pressure. :asskisser: "

I usually don't make my boyfriend watch chick flicks...but he really enjoys watching Valentine's Day with me. And we watched When in Rome on Netflix the other night and he wasn't complaining. . We've watched How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days on TV before. Other than that I can't think of any others.

Seriously??? Those are classics. I don't understand why anyone would hate those.

Revolutionary Road

Saw it with my girlfriend thinking it would be some kind of girly, happy movie but it ended up being very serious and depressing. Still a pretty good movie, but depressing.

Most definitely.

That's the movie where the Kate Winslet dies from trying to give herself an abortion right?

The Ice Sorm
Little Children
Eat Pray Love (basically I feel like I would hate all of woman-kind if I saw it)

I hated Julia's character in Eat Pray Love.

What a selfish individual she was. The other girl I was watching it with felt the same way.

Little Children is with Kate Winslet as well right? She's cheating on her husband with a stay at home dad I think?

Yes, amongst cheating, couple fighting, failing marriages, etc.

Yup. She's great in those suburban melodramas. She plays the existential crisis wife so well. Maybe a little too well. I hope it doesn't break her heart to know that I'd never date her.

Not to get too much off topic, but I was completely surprised when I saw her naked in The Reader. She looked better than I thought.

I always thought she was kinda "frumpy," but she was pretty skinny without any clothes on.

FWIW, I for some reason always confused Little Children and Revolutionary Road for each other. I guess because they both have Kate Winslet in it and they were both made around the same time?
