I get people saying Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc however the role itself was a caricature. I didn’t mind it.

Hard Target

The film stars Jean-Claude Van Damme as Chance Boudreaux, an out-of-work homeless Cajun merchant seaman

Supposedly the lawyer he played actually talked like that.

Costner's accent was beyond terrible.

On another note, one of the most accurate by a non-southern born actor is the Scottish chick in No Country, Kelly Macdonald.

The funny thing about Tara is that was her real accent. When the show first came out, some knuckleheads said the show was racist forcing her to use that accent. She wasn't amused. It was her real accent. lol.

Jodie Foster in The Silence of the Lambs.

Julianne Moore’s was even worse in Hannibal.

Jodie Foster was light years better than Moore. They should have dumped the accent and just had her use her real accent. I just watched Hannibal yesterday. Terrible. I still think my two choices I listed earlier were even worse than Moore but it was unpleasant to sit through.

I absolutely love the character and film series but it’s the most awful but accepted caricature of a southern accent in decent cinema.

Every movie that was filmed in NOLA . They think everyone talks like it's 1845. Pathetic

Murder, She Wrote. S4.E15, Mourning Among the Wisterias.

Crystal Wendle (Linda Purl) was the wife of Todd Wendle, the nephew of playwright Eugene Wendle.

Spoiler alert ——-

She murders a guy then tries to poison her husband’s uncle. Her confession scene is pretty chilling. Her accent is beyond horrible. She’s from Connecticut so there’s part of the problem I guess. Also played a southerner in Matlock (his daughter in one of the early seasons). Fonzie’s girlfriend at one point, and Pam’s mom.

Not everyone. Newman (Wayne Knight) nailed it pretty good.

Yeah, that movie was definitely parody and comedy. It called for a caricature type
Of accent.

The worst part is Garison is from Iowa and there are recordings of him. Instead of doing a normal voice like he had or a real Yat accent which would have been understandable. They do this

How about his name? Jonathan Devoreaux. Lol. Another thing that irks me is many scenes depict Mardi Gras and second lines, like it's an everyday occurrence. How about many people outside of NOLA, say , in Kentucky (where i am) think we are all cajuns. Really? Even i couldn't understand the shrimp boat captain HC.

"Oh Fiddly dee!"

All of the leads except Gable were British and all had those awful dripping drawls. Gable refused to do an accent, which was way more authentic than Leigh, Howard or De Havilland.

They clearly haven't seen a bad southern accent if they thought that one was at the top of their list.
