This film wasn't woke, or feminist, or PC or non-PC or any of the social empowerment bullshite that people like to blame for bad movies.

This is just a bad film (or, at best, not a good film).

There were bad films before "woke" was a thing and we'll have bad films once it's run its course. WW84 would've been just as bad if it'd come out in the 80's or if it came out in 2060.

I fell like they were trying to make it feel more like OG Linda Carter WW

To add on to what Fewer already said, this a very innocent, almost child-like take on Wonder Woman. I don't think it works, but it uses the innocent themes and Wonder Woman powers very present in her silver age era comics to tell its story. What you are interpreting as woke is really just "old-fashioned", which is moronically ironic. Unless you came of age in the early 2000s, this movie likely looks much more like a wonder woman you'd recognize from your childhood than the one in the previous movie.

And didn't you mention the Mayan as support for your argument of wokeness? You think including a character who uses Mayan-ness for profit, is treated as a joke in the movie, and who is played by an Indian dude, is an example of woke diversity? It's an example of needing a vessel for exposition. It's bad, it's lazy, and it's none of the stuff you suggested.

I don't think we watched the same movie. I noticed subtle and blatant sjw shite all throughout the movie.

I finally finished the movie. The second half was better than the first half. Not sure they pulled off the 1984 part of the movie aside from the fashion part and 10 min of Cold War overtures. I agree with most of the things people are saying. One thing not mentioned in this thread is that they gave about 20 seconds introduction to the invisibility power, no build up, just 2 sentences about her dad and a missing coffee cup. Then a whole jet disappeared. Felt forced to me, especially when the very next scene is an overly long sappy fireworks scene that was unnecessary. Steve had seen fireworks before, dumb. They could have used that time on developing the superpower.

There was nothing that offended me in this, it was just... there.

I've said I didn't mind this film. Keep in mind, I turned it on about 11:02 on Christmas morning, in my living room. I was impressed that the HBOMax app worked smoothly (no glitch or hangups), I was doing the Christmas stuff with fam, it was good background noise with some eye candy at times, and I already had the Saints game queued up for later. This flick didn't cost me a penny extra, nor did I go out of my way to go see it.

If I'd have paid to go see it in the theater, I definitely think I'd have been more disappointed in it. But as it was, it was released direct to stream, so I was fine with it. I wish we had more this year.

Thank God for The Mandalorian.

Point to it..

I just saw a lot of stupidity.

this movie was so stupidly confused it had mujahadeen fighter praying for nuclear weapons then taking his wish back cause an israeli actress told him to love the world

GTFOH with this simplistic kiddie movie script

One of the most woke posters on this site. If he agrees with you about anything it means you are most likely on the wrong side of an argument. If I’m coming on here to see if this movie is worth watching and I see

by Jay Are then you know it’s probably as bad as everyone is saying.

One of the things that does irritate me about not just this film, but also some Marvel and Star Wars films, is the random out-of-timeline aspect.

Sure, we know Wonder Woman is not going to die, but there's no drama in setting this 35 years ago. We already had her origin (one of the few reasons you can get away with this), so that's not in play.

We know she can't lose, because she's around later. New power reveals... why doesn't she use those powers in JL or BvS? Because she's had them for decades now.

It seems like it's a trendy thing to do, but I've always enjoyed the "danger" part of an action film. The open-ended "what will come next?" aspect of a series. Giving us stuff in the "past" negates that.

I said the movie is bad...

There are tons of reasons to criticize this movie, it would be nice if the dumbasses screaming "woke" talked about those reasons instead of making up bullshite.

The movie was a disappointment. You don’t have to make up other reasons for it to not be good.

Almost very literally every white guy was a piece of shite. That wasn't by accident.

I didn’t see any SJW stuff in here. No real bad guy and some things not explained enough but I enjoyed watching because Gal Gadot is distractingly hot.

So you telling me I should read between the lines and be pissed the only speaking black man was homeless?

And a majority black city appeared mostly white?

I always see this complaint but how often has anyone ever thought the hero could die in an action movie?

Like did some of you ever think Eddie Murphy, Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Mel Gibson, Chris Tucker, Jackie Chan etc etc etc was going to die in their action movies?

It so very rare that any movie kills the hero that I have no idea why people get bothered about it when it comes to comic movies.

Usually of a movie does kill the hero it's a western or war movie and often when they do it's such an obvious set up for them to save somebody it's not like the tension is high.

As was the fake Mayan, as was the Latino who was the FRICKING VILLAIN, as were the Egyptian/Arabs, as was the Asian douchebag who worked with them at the museum.

I love that this logic only acknowledges the first few minutes of the Cheetah narrative. These dipshit white guys that cat call/assault her are not dealt with in a way that conveys a woke message. If I use that part of the story to derive a message, the message would be that fighting back against abusive white men turns you into a literal monster. That's what happens to the Wiig character. How is that woke?

And the only prominent white guy is a literal wished-for ideal of perfection.

Wtf movie did you watch? Because it sure as shite wasn't the one we're talking about in this thread.
