Andy Samberg is that guy for the younger generation. He made Hot Rod and recently the Palm Springs movie.

I must be completely out of it, but I have never heard of this guy or these movies you listed. I'm a Millennial and growing up people could quote movies like Tommy Boy all day long. I can't imagine the movies you listed have the same sort of cultural cache.

Has become completely irrelevant. Most people don't even know it's still on. It's not the must see TV that it used to be. In the 70s, 80s and 90s, you could go to a random college house at 11:30 ET on a Saturday Night and there was a good chance everyone inside would be sitting around a keg watching SNL. That is not even close to the case anymore.

You have to be to have never heard of Samberg. He has done a lot of collaborations with Justin Timberlake.

His most popular TV show is Brooklyn Nine-Nine

I mean it kind of sounds like you just are out of it. Hot Rod is hilarious and in the same vein and the good Apatow, Farley and Sandler comedies.

It's looking like you just started a thread wondering if these comedies were still a thing and yet are not open to listening to otherwise.

Literally everyone still knows that SNL is still on. Doesn't mean they watch it but I'm not sure I've ever heard of a person that doesn't know SNL is still on.

Ok. After googling him, yea I know who is. But he still does not have the cultural impact that someone like Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Adam Sandler had.

The only generes that work in theaters are comic book movies, animated kids movies, and extremely low budget horror flicks.

I think that says more about us as a society.
