Is it supposed to be funny?

I wish the 2 lead actresses were more pleasing to the eyes. Ariana grande is downright scary looking

Considering a good percentage of American women up into their 40s still act like teenagers (see: Swift, Taylor) that's a pretty sure bet.
I hear plenty men talk. They don't sound like they are a day over 15.

Wicked, as it releases this Friday, is actually Wicked: Part One. Clocking in at two hours and 40 minutes, it is only five minutes shorter than the entire stage production, yet only comprises the events and songs of Act I.
I think the songs are significantly better than the actual narrative. Stretching this into 5 hours over 2 films of cgi nonsense sounds awful to me. But we'll see, I guess.

Not a fan of this. The new songs will probably suck and not fit in with the original ones.
Probably did it in part because of time length and then also to try and generate some sort of Oscar possibility for Part 2. I don’t feel like “Suddenly” took away from Les Mis even though they just added that song for a potential Oscar as well. Didn’t love the song, but it was good enough to get nominated.

Currently 99% audience score
I think that says as much about the audience as it does the movie.

My wife and I saw it at an early screening for Amazon Prime members on Monday night. If you enjoyed the stage show, you will love the movie. It is a near perfect adaptation of Act 1 of the play. They did not cut out a single song. The performances are great and the vocals, with the exception of Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum's "talk singing" are excellent. I was initially very concerned about the casting of Ariana Grande as Glinda. I just wasn't sure she had the acting chops or the vocals to handle the material. Boy, was I wrong. She may have been the best part of the movie. She looks amazing, sings beautifully, and her comedic timing is spot on. She and Cynthia Erivo have great chemistry and their friendship on screen is very believable. While there is some CGI, they also use practical sets a lot, and it really helps with the grand scale of the film. It's not a "CGI blob" as one other poster said it would be, at least not until the final sequence. If I had to criticize something, it would be that they drew out the "Defying Gravity" scene a little too long. They took a three and a half minute song and made it last almost 10 minutes. I can understand why they did it, since it's the climax of the movie. Other than that, I really enjoyed it.
We were probably in the same theater and I agree with almost every word. Defying Gravity is one of my favorite parts so the length of that was fine for me.
I’m not a huge fan of Ariana but she nailed Glinda. I like Cynthia even less but she was perfectly cast as well. There were no boring or lagging parts, the laughs were well timed and it is visually impressive. I went in with fairly low expectations and left wanting to see it again.

Hopefully it doesn't stray too far from the play (which is great), but they obviously need to fills some time, so we'll see what happens.
There are 4 books they can pull plot from

Yes. Fans of the theatrical version like it.
Same can't be said for CATS.

The books are terrible so hopefully they don't pull too much.
Count me in the they could've done it in one movie. I'll probably see it when it comes out streaming though. I enjoyed the play and look forward to seeing it but it's not a must-be-in-the-theater for me.
