Why was Vincent Vega taking Mia Wallace out on a date?

Why would Marcellus have one of his guys, who just recently came back in town take his wife out on the town, to dinner and etc? To “take her out and do whatever she wants” as she said?
Doesn’t that seem extremely odd?

Because he didn't feel like dealing with her bullshite and it's easier to just send one of his guys to take her out than listen to her bitch or break shite at his house.
But more importantly he needed to test Vegas loyalty before he got the case.
