I loved GOTG and his Suicide Squad. Those types of characters seem to be good fits for his style.

I agree.

Not every director is a good fit for every type of movie.

Joss Whedon is a great example. Great for The Avengers, not so good for Justice League.

Same with James Gunn.

Putting Gunn in charge was a huge mistake. You need different tones for different DC characters then you need collaboration to bring them together. Gunn is a one size fits all creative who works best with B level characters he can add his Gunnisms to. He’s not someone you want working with characters who are already securely defined.

I thought it was a step in the right direction but by no means was it great.

I don't accept your premise. Superman was pretty good

Hell, the 30 seconds of Milly Alcock were better than anything Marvel has done this year

He was brought in at the arse end of JL

Can't fault him for how that ended up

Would have liked to see what George Miller had been able to come up with, when he was initially brought in for JL

I am a big fan of what joss has done but he totally tried to revamp justice league from what Snyder was doing.

It was destined to fail.

Guess you weren’t a child of the 70’s then. Too bad cause the original Christopher Reeves Superman is hands down the best Superman to date.

Nope. I would be hesitant to say that if I was.

He literally said in the OP he enjoyed Fantastic 4 and Thunderbolts more in the OP haha

Its funny how blind you are to objectivity due to your anti-disney stance. You probably think the Mandalorian sucks as well

Hard to blame Snyder, either. Dude's daughter died.

That movie was tanked in the boardroom

Yeah, I don’t get angry about the Justice League in the same way I do about MoS and BvS. Those two are inexcusable, but JL was just doomed and could have been worse.

so?

what objectivity? Who's objectivity am I being blind to? The OP is making a subjective value judgement.

I rejected the premise, because the premise is "Superman is not very good", and find that Superman was good.

I then made a halfass joke about Milly being hot as Supergirl.

i am not anti-Disney. I am pro-Disney doing better. If they do something good, I will praise them for it. If they frick up, I will criticize them for it. I'm wierd that way.

last season was really weak, but had some decent moments. Previous seasons I enjoyed, and was very vocal about it. Loved Andor as well.

Any other manufactured opinions of mine you want to share with the class?

I just think it stands against everything Superman stands for in the comics. I was appalled in the final action sequence just thinking about the ridiculous amount of collateral damage that the film just outright ignores.

Like that nameless family of four that Superman kills Zod over, who gives a shite at that point? Your fight has killed like 30,000 people, so what’s another 4 more dead? At least have Zod aim at Lois, that’s just baby town frolics when it comes to writing a script.

I enjoyed it. I did feel like there was a bit too much exposition at times, but it was a good time.

I don't think it is possible for that guy to like Donner Superman, if he thought Gunn's was too campy

Agreed. Movie is an abomination, imo. ZS made a masterpiece in Watchmen, however.

Oddly enough, I'm finally catching up on Season 3 of Invincible and the amount of correlation with this movie are great. Frankly, it felt like Superman was borrowing from Invincible for once.
