I actually liked Outsourced alot.
I never watched it, but there are some people on this board whose opinions I respect that said it was good. By the time I was going to start watching, it got the axe.

It kept getting better and better.
I know it won't happen, but I'm holding out a small bit of hope that it could get picked up on a cable network a la Cougar Town. Not gonna hold my breath though.

I don't want this thread to turn into a "shows cancelled to soon" thread, but shockingly, Animal Practice was a show that I thought had a lot of potential to be good. People didn't like the premise with the monkey and what not, but they didn't lean on that too much and there were a lot of funny people on the show.
If they would have treated it like ABC treated 'The Neighbors', I think it would have gotten similar marks for how it improved as it went along. I still don't watch The Nieghbors, but apparently it improved dramatically from beginning to end.

Seriously, who is John Mulaney? Is this the next Tosh, Louis C.K., Mitch Hedberg, etc that I should know already?
Very funny stand up, been a writer on SNL for a while (he writes the Stephan sketch with Bill Hader), and he has been on the Kroll Show. Really funny guy.

That sucks. I was really looking forward to the show.
Mulaney is really funny. I never heard of him until a few months ago when I caught him on my Pandora comedy. Dude is really funny and really talented. I believe he was/is a writer for SNL. His stand-up is hilarious.

They definitely did a bad job of promoting it. They focused so much on the monkey in the promos that it annoyed people. In reality, the monkey was not that much more of a part of the show than when Ross owned the monkey on Friends (same monkey, BTW, also played Annies Boobs on Community).
The show still had some flaws, but there was definitely a lot of potential. The lead male was good with sarcasm and deadpan, the lead chick was good looking with good comedic timing. The bit players were pretty good, only one or two that would get a little annoying.
I just thought it had more room to grow than some other shows. But yes, it was marketed terribly.
ETA: That monkey wasn't on Friends, but was in a shite load of other stuff.

Not really a fan of Mulaney or Martin short but id rather see them get a shot at this type of show than the cookie cutter family comedy

Exact same for me. He came up on Nick Schwardson radio I think. Right now he's my favorite standup comedian and I was really looking forward to this show. Just another example of why NBC blows.

I think its a dumb approach, one had they used they'd never be dedicating a full of tv to a show like The Office this thursday night.
find good comedies, hope the public accepts them.
shooting for bland and hoping to find a hit seems like stupid business to me

Really its not like they couldn't have done this and then a family sitcom as well. It's not like their plate is full. Sitcoms are cheap to make compared to all but reality.

I did as well. The movie was pretty good too, but the women in the show were far hotter.

NBC has had smarter comedies for years and is getting murdered by lowest common denominator CBS.
They had to shift that way, eventually.
that high brow Anthony Anderson and 2 white guys make 3 men and a bunch of babies show never stood a chance
John Mulaney is hilarious but frick lorne micheals. I can't wait til Keenan is the Tyler Perry of NBC under Lorne.

Thankfully, Netflix original programming seems to be really on the rise. Those of us "geeks" that know how to use a computer can watch our smarter comedies there ie. Arrested Development.
