Great music, beautiful cinematography, intriguing characters.

It's not GOT but it's an extremely interesting series.

Because the M/TV board hates it.

Lifetime Movies are typically ignored.

It’s a soap opera set in the west. Not sure why so many people like it so much.

I seem to recall that shows like Dallas, Dynasty, and The Waltons had huge audiences. Why would you expect less, today?

Do the Emmy’s have a catagory for “western fantasy”? Cause the show is so fricking unrealistic you couldn’t possibly put it in any other genre.

It was interesting for a season and a half and then it became a shitty version of Dallas.

Because it's not realistic.

It is the Western version of Sons of Anarchy. It is enjoyable but full of moments where you go "get the frick out of here with that".

I really enjoy Sons and Yellowstone.

I’m too young for any of those shows, but I would say the main difference is the number of options you have today. Back then there was a tiny fraction of the content available today. So it surprises me that so many of my friends are obsessed with Yellowstone. Like to the point that I see people out with Dutton ranch apparel…

Yes, at least a little bit. Yellowstone has gone so far off the rails, it’s more of humorless parody or a morbid farce than an actual drama/western. It’s a swing and a miss regardless. The writing has gotten so bad, it’s simply not enjoyable anymore. Watchable, yes. Enjoyable not so much.
