What the hell are they doing that takes 2-3 years between seasons? It’s not like most of the actors are all over other TV and movies to the point where they can’t get them together for a concentrated time and film a season.

It’s not like they have all this complicated scenery to film either, seems like most of the show can be filmed in a studio.

It’s the writing that is taking forever.

It’s taking these guys THREE YEARS to write a season of an already established show?

How bad are they at their job?

Supposedly this season is only going to be 2 years between seasons instead of 3. Which is still a lot but I think it's s common now that shows know they can get away with it. Feel like it started this trend with the final seasons of GOT.

It's pretty wild that it used to be a show as complex as LOST could have a 25 episode season release less than a calendar year later. Yet now the standard is for a 6-10 episode season to get released two years later.

This is not true. The cinematography on the show is absolutely terrific and the cameras they use each has a different purpose. The hallway scene with Mark running through the corridors was filmed with a specialized Bolt-Arm camera if I remember correctly. They set up the corridors and leave them there for shots that need the design. That scene was supposedly filmed over 6 months while other scenes were filmed as well. Jessica Lee Gagne (cinematographer) has been absolutely brilliant in Severance.

All that said. The gap between S1 and S2 had a lot to do with the writers strike. Stiller said S3 won’t take nearly as long.

Fingers crossed.

There was a pretty big delay after the last season before they even got the writing room together. They started production in July and will finish around Christmas. They are aiming for late 2027, early 2028. I guess Apple knows how successful it is and doesn’t want to rush it. Same with Pluribus.

Dan must be busy finishing “The You You Are”, he only wrote 52 pages of a fictional book inside a fictional story when it was introduced. That’s some level to detail they will discuss if you’re ever interested in listening to them on panels or extended interviews.

Taking 6 months to film someone running through a hallway is not something to brag about. It was a cool scene and well shot but frick off if I’m supposed to buy the idea that they can’t pull stuff like that off faster than that.

As stated, they are specific as best can be to detail and other scenes were filmed simultaneously. You’re welcome to listen to their takes and why they do things that way, or not watch the show, or just complain on the MTV board.

I personally am a huge fan of the show, so I’ve taken time to learn and educate myself on the process and the reasoning.

I am summarizing a memory of a video I saw on this, so take it for what it's worth.

But apparently studios don't really hire writers full time anymore, so the writers have to find work in between seasons. With a show like Lost, they would have been working on the show as their full time job.

This means that the writing for these shows requires scheduling around the writers' other jobs so that they can make ends meet throughout the year.

This equal parts makes sense and is very shitty for us and the writers

Pluribus is the same way. The TV business used to have shows that would crank out 30 or so episodes every year but I guess that's a thing of the past now

covid didn't help the second season and seemed like they had filming conflicts particularly with Arquette.

then they have to spend months in the writers room figuring out how to get characters to talk like dipshits and avoid rational follow up questions

Is the next season expected to be the last or are there more anticipated? I finally got around to watching this and Silo. While this isn't as good as Silo, it's been ok enough. I'm just finishing season 1.

No idea, at this pace though they’re going to have to wrap it up or the actors are going to start dying of old age

This is why I don't watch series, anymore. Who wants to wait ages for a show to return for its next season?

Get some coke in these writers' rooms. Guys used to get geeked outta their minds in the 80s and crank-out 22 episodes about an alien that ate cats. shite ain't rocket science.

Once a show is a big hit like severance, you should get a green light to film multiple seasons simultaneously.

Which is ridiculous for that show. The special effects are minimum.

Shows like Landman should be cranking out a season every year.
