The obvious answer is Hank Hill. He led his team to state, not city, in the biggest football obsessed state in the nation (at least twenty years). Bundy was all city. Whoopdeedoo

Hank. Al may have been big talk in Chicago but Hank took his team to the granddaddy of all high school football games. It's just too bad that walking like an Egyptian in a touchdown celebration angered the football gods and made them break his leg in punishment.

On top of being Arlen High's single season rushing record joker he also set several more records, he made a vague reference to them in the Billdozer episode when he said
"It almost makes me wish a kid would make a run at one of my records. Ha! Won't ever happen."

Of could Hank also had the tutelage of one of the greatest coaches in high school history. Coach Whitey Sours.

He wasn't as highly recruited but if you watch the game sequences he was making every play. Forcing turnovers, catching passes, making key blocks, had to be all time state tackle leader

Uncle Rico. If Coach had just put him in Fourth Quarter, they would have taken State.

It's an odd point in the movie, but I don't think you comprehend what Rico was saying. The implication here is that the coach was a retard and didn't let Rico play. The Truth is that Rico got hurt late in the Third Quarter and coach couldn't put him in, despite the fact he wanted to play. Rico is the best High School FB player, he led his team all the way to the State Championships and would have one it if not for an injury

Bill Dauterive had the most all time rushing TDs in Arlen county

Because Sour Coach Sauers treated Hank like Kilmer treated Wendall. It's no wonder Hank celebrated scoring a TD by going completely out of character and dancing.

To be fair, I think Bill only got carries in short yardage or goal line situations, he was more of a blocker. Hank got all the yards.

Gonna go write in here.... Mike Winchell. Not for his career on the field, but for his life story, which included a decent playoff run. Only baw I know to lose state in Texas, transfer to another school in the spring in like Florida or California and proceed to get kicked out only to be relocated to Japan where he takes over the underground drift racing scene.

Don't forget his life as a child where he befriended a mentally disabled lawnmower mechanic who was previously in the looney bin for His mother and her lover with a Kaiser/sling blade only to kill his future stepfather with a lawnmower blade.

Then he found himself riding a horse down to Mexico with Matt Damon who was headed south of the border looking for work.
