Never been but loved Alamo Drafthouse when I was a refugee in Houston after Katrina.

However, the movies I saw were with near empty theaters so the waiters didn't bug me at all.

Having a good beer with a first run movie was nice. The food was meh.

Bottomline with Canal Place, the extra $2-3 keeps out the riff raff which is my biggest complaint with traditional theaters.

people don't have tables that they can use to spread out their "feast," at regular theaters. plus I think making it seem like a dining atmosphere makes people less inhibited about displaying their ill-mannered eating habits in close quarters.

Star Cinema Grill in the suburbs of Houston is the same, but they're 18 and up unless with a parent...that alone is worth it to me.

I don't give a shite about the fatty eating cheeseburgers next to me. It's better than 10-15 year old kids playing on cellphones, throwing popcorn, and running around the theaters trying to act like jackasses.

**Disclaimer: I used to be one of those kids and my jizz has been left on the seats in the back row of multiple theaters...you're welcome

I think you've just had shitty luck. Like I said, I've never had anything approaching that problem.

jesus what movies are you seeing in theaters? almost every time I go to a normal theater there are little to zero kids in attendance. then again, I'm not paying to watch Harry Potter.

Saw the conjuring last night and think I saw more kids under 18 than adults. That includes infants and kids under 10...for a rated R movie

I've only seen one movie at Canal Place, I dug it, but I didn't enjoy paying $17 for a small diet coke and small popcorn.
