Is AMC still going forward with Kingkiller Chronicles? If so, it will hinge entirely in casting. It's gotta be the right fit to pull off our redheaded, lute playing, swordsman/arcanist.
The story of the Battle of New Orleans offers a lot of intriguing story lines and compelling characters. Andrew Jackson, Sam Houston, Dominique You, the Lafittes, Antonio de Sedella and young hot Marie Laveau, plus the unique racial and cultural aspects of the Americanization of New Orleans. There's enough there for a premium channel series.
(I don't think there's any historical account of the teenaged Houston ever meeting the teenaged Laveau but they were in the same location, both playing semi-prominemt roles in the same cause. It's no great departure from history to throw them together for some steamy teenaged voodoo sex.)

Let the team get back together for charity game for dying Ricky Vaughn vs current Indians. Pedro Cerrano becomes the next Julio Franco. The real Willie Mays Hayes comes back as a hitting coach. Jake Taylor comes back from Hawaii to manage. Update it from there with whatever cliches are needed. But most important of all....
