Where does Rudy stand in your sports movie pantheon?

I have no explanation why, but besides the Bad News Bears, I think Rudy is second among the most watched sports movies I've watched. And it's a great movie, chiefly because I think the filming of the actual football/practice etc is done more realistically than any other. And it was done on 93.

Top 20-30. I thought it was a very good movie, but not even close to top 10.

I mean, I love Rudy, but it wouldn't crack my top 5. Possibly not even top 5 football movies

Rudy is the best football movie, but the bar is so low with football movies.
It’s not in my sports top 5….
1) Slap Shot
2) Rocky
3) The Natural
4) Hoosiers
5) Chariots of Fire

Does a great job of setting the atmosphere of college football in its era. It absolutely nails the feel.

Pretty low...and I think that there's plenty of room near the top for a decent football movie.

He didn't have an older brother, his family wasn't unsupportive, the groundskeeper didn't exist, he didn't have a job in College (the GI Bill paid for his tuition) and Joe Montana said they carried him off the field in jest. The players didn't give up their jerseys and Dan Devine was supportive of Rudy and wanted him to dress.
But it has one of the coolest training montages in sports movies.

Well since it's fiction maybe 30-40

Forget Rudy.
The Longest Yard (1974, not that Adam Sandler cheeseburger shite) blows it away.

Not sure where it ranks, but I’ll tell you that SOB was offsides, guaranteed…

Far behind Jimmy Chitwood, and Coach Norman Dale.

Top 10ish. I was the perfect age for it when it came out and it's always stuck with me.
When he walks out that tunnel and sees his groundskeeper buddy standing there.
