My first thought as well, but Pan's Labyrinth was also that year though. I'd have to go with Return of the King as the last one I truly agree with, although Lpst in Translation is close.

Probably The Departed and No Country for Old Men. I don't remember the years but I think the Departed won in 2007, and No Country for Old Men in 2008.
