I wanna say "Old Man's War" but it would be "Dark Tower'd" to death by Hollywood and the coolness sucked right the frick out of the story in favor of a cgi loop-fest.

Scalzi needs to hang onto his movie rights like they grow in his scrotum.

When I was in college I bartended at a place in Prairieville. A regular was an old retired cop from New Orleans. He had a bunch of stories about the Marcello crime family.

He had one story about the real reason paul dietzl left LSU which involved Marcello.

He also had one about when they built the racetrack out in prairieville one of the contractors having an “accident” with a steam roller.

Not sure if the old guy was full of shite or what, but on a slow night on a Tuesday it was a good way to pass the time.

Not a movie but a show based on the life of Jay Gatsby before he was The Great Gatsby.

Climbing the ladder in the bootlegging business.

Think Black sails mixing real and fictional pirates but gangsters

I don't really know why Lewis and Clark hasn't been done - or maybe it has but nobody knows about it.

We get these great Documentaries by Ken Burns on Lewis and Clark but nobody can make a compelling movie about one of the greatest adventures ever told?

I don't get it.

Instead Hollywood gives us Almost Heroes...and tries to make us laugh at the most important exploration for this nation and one of the greatest human acheivements.

If somebody took this story seriously like Ken Burns...it could be an amazing movie.

HBO already did this. With Rutger Hauer. It was excellent.

Sam C. Hyde wrote a book called "Pistol and Politics" which detailed the difficulties of the post-Civil War Florida Parishes. Some parts of that book would make a good movie.

It might have been done already but I think the Robert Johnson crossroads story could make for a hell of a period piece / horror movie.

The Moviegoer by Walker Percy.

I've shot that thing in my head since I first read in when I was in college. Would be a tough movie to do because of so much inner dialogue, but could be done as narration, if portioned right. Would have to decide which remembrances and anecdotes would be discarded and which would be included, maybe done as flashbacks.

A lot of people may find it boring as a movie, though. Character-driven story, no great action or big event happens in it.

Robotech...Humans fighting aliens in advanced fighter jets that can transform into 50ft tall robots. Would destroy Transformers if done correctly.

Rikki Tikki Tavi. Best short story of all time, i'd love to see Disney do it.
