A feel a lot of Pitt's movies seem to be that way but I find them excellent overall

Meet Joe Black
A river Runs Through It
Seven Years in Tibet

A solid cast as well and well written

The rules of attraction is the best Brett Easton Ellis movie

I won't go that far but I love ROA and it's severely underrated. I have no idea why it never caught on at least as a cult classic.

Damn good movie but nobody gave it a chance because Michael Bay directed it.

Agreed, and when you read negative reviews by snobby reviewers you can tell that most just can't accept he can do a black comedy.

The whole Michael Bay flash actually really helps the movie b/c of the main character's whole mindset. It's a perfect merging.

"The Game" with Michael Douglas. Not sure if it should have won any awards, but it's a great watch.

Great cast, shot in black and white, and runs a brisk 90 minutes. Hell, it's even rated PG. It feels like an old school Hollywood film, and it seems almost completely forgotten.

It was nominated for several Oscars including Best Picture, but was an instant afterthought in a year with films like Brokeback, Crash, Capote, Munich, Walk The Line, Memoirs Of A Geisha, etc.

Open Range deserves to be in the discussion as one of the top westerns of all time. Excellent dialogue as it builds to the final showdown.

Though in actuality, you can argue it's still ahead of it's time given how few people still recognize it as the blistering satire of militarism, imperialism, fascism, and the very source material it pulled from to deride, that seemingly remains forever relevant.

Such a overblown narrative that now has become the ONLY narrative.

I think most people at least partially got the satirical nature of the film while appreciating the action and story
and almost EVERYONE gets it 30 years later.

It's really hard to separate ST from the trailers I saw as a Ute with Blur matching up perfectly to it

Even though it was more of a crime drama and not an action movie, the shootout scenes were some of the very best ever done in Hollywood. In fact, it was so good that Police departments actually use the shootout scenes for training. And the British military shows the shootout scene to their troops during infantry training. In my opinion it was the greatest shootout scene in film history (up to that time). It was realistic in tactics, the shooting was realistic and even the sound was realistic.

They showed that seen to my class at Marine infantry school 22 years ago.

It was nominated for 3 Academy Awards...and won Best Cinematography. The book became a best-seller again.

Fell asleep in the theater. But it was a 10pm showing and my friends and I were pretty drunk after leaving a bar for MNF. Should've seen Boogie Nights instead.

Sci/Fi - The Thing - 1982. Critics hated it. I love that movie. The idea of a scientific outpost in Antarctica finding a frozen alien that is able to absorb living creatures and imitate those creatures. That was cool stuff to a teen in the 80's! Kurt Russell, Wilford Brimley, Keith David. The score was composed by Ennio Morricone who also did the scores of several Sergio Leone spaghetti westerns.

Westerns - Once Upon a Time in the West. To me, it's the best western ever made. Better than all the Clint Eastwood, John Wayne movies.

Claudia Cardinale was a smokeshow.
