There is a short film on YouTube called Dirty Laundry that is basically a day in the life of the Punisher. It is amazing and I would love for the person who did it to attempt to stretch a story out to about 90 minutes. So film length, but short enough to only focus on the important parts.

I'd like to see a movie based on The Oregon Files, the Clive Cussler series.

Probably would never happen but an R-rated Darth Vader movie where he just fricks shite up at the height of the Empire days.

The Vader comic book series starts off after the first Death Star is destroyed and is pretty damn legit.

would like to see World War Z as a single season series.

This is a good one.

While I found the movie entertaining enough, it wasn't World War Z except in name.

I'd love to see a legit movie (or mini-series) about Shackleton's Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition.

Dante’s Divine Comedy.
Think I’d prefer Pournelle & Nivens Inferno. Still possibly my favorite sci-fi/fantasy novel.

On a Pale Horse could be a terrific movie as well.

I would also like to see someone do a by-the-book adaptation of Mark Twain’s Puddinhead Wilson, but I don’t think there’s anyone brave enough to even pitch that premise

In the nonfiction genre, I saw a PBS documentary from 2010 or so the other day about the first Women’s Air Derby that was fascinating - would make a great film if cast properly.

And finally, my dream project: a miniseries on the life and times of the Ink Spots, from their early days to the point where bassman Horace “Hoppy” Jones died suddenly at the peak of their popularity, and original founder Deek Watson was bought out and dismissed by lead tenor Bill Kenny. Lots of intrigue and great music, set against the state of race relations during the Depression & WWII.

It's funny how a book about the zombie apocalypse could be so utterly amazing. What an intelligently written book.

I know people will read that statement and think to themselves how a book with such ridiculous subject matter could be regarded as intelligent and amazing. Well it can and it is.

It’s frustrating that with so many wild untold stories from history we have, we still get crap like a movie about bountygate

Yeah it's sad. There's plenty they could do history wise but I think historical epics as a genre are kinda dead right now. Ben hur remake flopped, and so did the last duel just last year so unless that napoleon movie does good we aren't gonna get much for awhile

Its a shame. Really alls I want is a show about the Diadochi wars (Alexander the Greats Successors). Thing would make game of thrones look like a kids show.
-alexanders kids used as false pawns and murdered
-his mom vying for the throne
-barely mentioned selueces during Alexander's life becomes a serious power player
-stealing of Alexander's body by ptolemy from the procession
Etc.

A film about the Mexican-American War. Totally overlooked in American history, yet it was the training ground for both sides in the Civil War.

I'm surprised the history Channel hasn't done a special about it
Lee an grant were both in it and I think others were as well

I would also love a true to the books, series of "The Dark Tower".

Those books just don’t lend themselves well to film, I don’t think. Some parts would be fine esp the first few books but the series gets so wonky with the flashbacks and alternate realities and internal dialogue etc, would just be hard to do.

It is hard to imagine that they can replicate the on-screen chemistry that we saw between Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany.

The two of them were perfectly cast. I have no idea who you would cast now.

Chris Hemsworth as Aubrey and Benedict Cumberbatch as Maturin would be interesting. The Maturin character in the books is loosely based on Sherlock Holmes.

But yeah, Russell Crowe was a perfect Aubrey, and it would be hard for anyone to match his performance.

As an aside - great books might better lend themselves to limited series rather than movies.

Agreed - No Country for Old Men worked because the book is so short, and the Coen's still left out some material that I wish was in the movie.

I'd love to see Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny done in a limited series. It was the movie that they were pretending to make in real life in Iran for the hostage rescue as covered somewhat in Argo. Zelazny's Amber books would make a great full series.

It might be really good or terrible depending on what direction they take the movie.

I agree. That would be great if done right.

The Americans
I'd like to see a modern day [i]Charm School
except the person found escaping deep in the Russian forest ends up being an Anderson Cooper type character.
