Mine would have to be the first one but Rogue Nation comes in a strong second. I guess the first one is my favorite due to nostalgia and me seeing it when I was a kid

ETA: I’m watching the first one right now, that’s the reason for this thread

The first one for its relative subtlety.

The Final scene in Fallout is amazing but Ghost Protocol has better girls and a better pace.

But those two are the best at pure escapism...which the series became... While the first one was about being a spy thriller and not action stunts.

Probably 3. I think Philip Seymour Hoffman is the best bad guy in any of the MI movies and movies like that are usually defined by the bad guy.

I love them all, 2 is the weakest but still a good popcorn movie

If I had to pick I’d choose Rogue Nation.

Fallout is great. To bad a certain character died. That could have been a great multi-movie rivalry

Yeah, one of the bombs should have gone off killing Ving Rhames and Ethan’s wife with Cavill escaping. Would have been a hell of a cliffhanger. Make it the Syndicate Trilogy. That being said Fallout is still my favorite.

The first one for smaller details paid to “spy craft,” and all the unexpected little plot wrinkles.

Love Ghost Protocol, Rogue Nation, and Fallout. Insane little mini-trilogy within the franchise.

We've seen a couple of them. I prefer the team work on the old TV show.

Yeah they’ve really found an incredible stride with this series. They are all so good and feel consistent yet also unique in their own way.

I actually agree with a previous poster that mentioned III. It seems to not get much love here but PSH really was such a good villain and the look into Hunt’s personal life being attacked from the spy life was really interesting imo.

Plus, after the mess that was MI2, I remember being blown away by the trailer for III with PSH threatening Hunt. It really did a fantastic job of reviving interest in this series and the movie lived up to it imo.

This second wave of GP, RN, Fallout doesn’t happen without IIIs change in tone imo.

Such a surprisingly great series, with only 2 being weaker.

If I were to rank them all:

Tier One
MI1
Rogue Nation
Fallout

Tier 2
MI3
Ghost Protocol

Tier 3
MI2

I think your tier ranking is spot on, if MI2 is on tv I won’t even waste my time watching it

MI2 is a classic “So Bad It’s Good” movie. Can’t tell me this clip isn’t glorious:

That too! That’s fricking awesome. A completely ridiculous movie but a ton of fun.

Love the first one but to this day I have trouble following the plot. Too many names and too many characters. But the suspension scene at Langley is one of the most iconic scenes in movie history.
