As a guy who graduated high school in 1986, Top Gun has gotta be #1. Movies like Rambo, Commando, fit that mode as well. Ferris Beuller, Crocodile Dundee, and Karate Kid show a lot about how life kinda was though
Pretty in Pink, Breakfast Club, etc. we’re ok, but really kinda only for the bratty kids and Valley girl types.

What about St. Elmo's Fire?
If you graduated in 1986 this would have been influential as it was real for Yuppies, young adults, college grads.
(I will admit Pretty in Pink is total bullshite, nobody wore suits in HS and sockless penny-loafers and smoked in the hallways.)
I watched St. Elmo's Fire again a year ago and it seriously felt like I was transported to the 80's.
There's nothing about it that spans decades. It's 80's or nothing. And it's pure 80's.

War Games - the 80s was all about the Cold War.

I know it doesn’t qualify but Hot Tub Time Machine had some hilarious 80’s clothing moments.

I'd argue that Back to the Future II was more 80's than b2tf1.
At least, it had a very 80's perspective on what the future would look like.

The Untouchables
Does anyone else other than me get completely taken out of the movie when you have these serious intense scenes happening and then all of a sudden the super-80s synthesizer music starts playing in the background? It completely fricks with my immersion in the film.
