"Due to a medical emergency involving a performer in a recurring role on Season 2 of Westworld, filming on one of the two units has been temporarily suspended," HBO said in a statement.

"The cast member was not on set when this occurred, and out of respect for the performer's privacy, we have no additional details to share, other than that everyone at Westworld sincerely hopes for a quick recovery," they continued.

Did someone OD? If it was a car accident we'd hear about it. If it was something innocent like they broke a bone playing sports they'd mention that.

OD or Cancer diagnosis i'd say.

One is too much bad press to announce for someone and the other is too personal and sad to announce before the individual is ready.

Could be anything though

Not many major actors in this that could OD and shut down production. Thinking this is a health issue in an older cast member

Well that sucks.

In honor of the injured, let's all take a moment of silence to reflect on the goddamn perfect rack on this lovely creature.

amen.

Can't they just get another host to replace them?

You're right, I forgot how old some of the cast was. That does seem like the most likely explanation. Hopefully it's something they can recover from.

Clearly it's not James Marsden. Teddy Flood is nearly indestructible and just keeps on ticking.

Best wishes to whoever is having health issues.

Sadly, it's almost refreshing to see that something has paused production and it's NOT because of a rape scandal.

Thought the same thing.

Read "Westworld suspends production..." and immediately jumped in my head to "...due to harrassment allegations".

Hopefully this medical situation improves for this person. Love that show, great season ending as well.

Why not? They replaced Arnold Weber.

The statement said it was a recurring male cast member, Ed Harris is a lead so I'm not sure it was him.

I read this and for a few seconds kept thinking why couldn't it be Anthony Hopkins.

From a site linked on r/westworld
quote:

TMZ is reporting that an unidentified male cast member with a recurring role on HBO’s hit show, Westworld, sustained a serious injury after falling in his house and hitting his head. The cast member is said to have been badly hurt, and the incident has resulted in the filming of season 2 being temporarily suspended.

The fact that they aren't saying anything means to me not that they are respecting privacy, but because it's a cast member that is supposed to be dead and they don't want spoilers. Like maybe Hopkins. He would be the most likely to fall in his home and injure his head, which is what happened to the anonymous actor.

Pretty sure if Sir Anthony Hopkins, who is in the blockbuster film release of the weekend, fell and injured his head, the mainstream news would catch wind of it.

Anyone know a good place to read a recap of Season 1? I'm having a hard time remembering the last few episodes
