That’s pretty much how I describe the show to anyone, “it’s the show CW thinks they’re making”

That is a phrase I will be using from now on. I’ll give you credit if I’m on TD or saying it somewhere in the south.

Finally wrapped this up last night. Show was very good. Way darker than I had anticipated in regards to some of the deaths.

Show was garbage and only got pushed so hard because of marketing.

I see it's appeal but it being everywhere and the most watched Netflix premiere was disingenuous.

And they totally fricked up the Gomez casting

That "viral dance" was pushed so hard the amount of forced marketing was of the charts.

Great show! Tim Burton said on casting Gomez he wanted to stay truer to the Charles Addams creation… Gomez being short and rotund.

P.S. the actors’ ages as of today:

Wednesday: 20
Enid: 20
Tyler: 29
Xavier: 21
Bianca: 26
Ajax: 20
Eugene: 13
Rowan: 25
Pugsley: 13

ETA: CZJ killed it. Best Tish ever and wow at 53 years old. A knock out.

1. I LOVED the show, along with my two teen daughters.

2. We are looking forward to another season.

3. Serious question: Does a network renew a show like this just HOPING that the showrunner and writers will be able to generate another good story, or does the network want to see (at a minimum) an outline of the story arc for a proposed second season before making the call?

I get wanting to have a more authentic Gomez. But looking at the 30's cartoon and current Luis Guzman, he's a good 30lbs overweight. Maybe more. He's never been svelte, he's got a stocky build, but hell, he's heavy even by his own on-screen standards. I think much of this could have been avoided if he was asked to lose just 15-20 lbs.

I watched most of 1 episode. I've aged out of the teenage CW dramas by about 20 years.

Show is for kids that like TikTok dances and should be viewed through that POV

Easy. He's not John Astin, Raul Julia or Tim Curry. Not even close.

Those 3 are how 99% of everyone who knows anything about the Addam's Family sees Gomez Addams.

But Jenna was to Wednesday what Meryl Streep was to Miranda Priestly in Devil wears Prada- both just took their roles to a different leve

Jenna's ability to "act" with her eyes is what makes her so good. She can keep that deadpan look on her face, but still convey emotion with her eyes.

Show definitely wasn’t garbage. It was an entertaining twist on the Addams Family with a focus on Wednesday.

So actual streaming numbers are disingenuous? Pretty much everyone I know who watched it enjoyed it. It held the #1 spot in Nielsen’s Top 10 Streaming for awhile.

1) Squid Game
2) ST season 4

Loved the show.

My complaint (small) was the Wednesday was like a superhero that was great at everything. Other than that solid.

Not so sure. She botched identifying the killer multiple times and began to regret being emotionless and alone.

Funny. I thought it was refreshing that it wasn’t so Mary Sue. She failed at fencing. She was wrong on multiple occasions and accused the wrong people. She was incredibly well done. Now some of the other characters….

Wednesday wasn’t a Mary Sue because she couldn’t even control her own “superpower“. She barely even knew how to use it. Just like her roommate couldn’t fully Wolf-out and was basically an outcast at a school of outcast.

But. Gomez isn’t the focal point of the show. Wednesday is and she was great

My daughters and I laughed through the entire series at how often she was WRONG about things.

She was wrong about everything, but hyper capable at any and every task she attempted to do. She was like Bugs Bunny if he had no idea what was going on or who was hunting him.

Spoiler…………

We called out the killer in the first episode because the monster eyes matched his eyes.

Still liked the show.
