There’ve been plenty of movies ruined by studio interference before, but it’s rare for said studio to then turn around and make a big deal of releasing the director’s original vision. But that’s what’s happening with Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which is finally debuting on HBO Max this month, almost three and a half years after the theatrical edition of the DC team-up film came out. Fans might be thrilled about it, but it sounds like embarrassed Warner Bros. execs are not sharing the hype.

According to scooper Mikey Sutton of Geekosity, execs are “not impressed” with the Snyder Cut, which restores all of what the filmmaker shot back in the day that was thrown out by reshoots director Joss Whedon, meaning it takes the form of a four-hour epic. Despite the positive buzz surrounding the Justice League re-release online, WB higher-ups are said to still be unhappy with it as they never liked what Snyder was doing in the first place.

quote:

Sutton claims it was WB’s parent company AT&T that picked up on the #ReleaseTheSnyderCut campaign, saw an opportunity to cash in on the buzz and demanded that it be put into action. With its release imminent, WB apparently has a serious “lack of faith in the project” and “simply want it to go away.” Sutton even says that they dropped the news that J.J. Abrams is working on a Superman reboot last week to pivot attention away from the Snyder Cut.

If these are the same people that liked the first cut, then their opinion is invalid

Given they just handed the fate of Superman to Ta-Nehisi Coates, this could mean it’s actually good.

I'm sure the movie will be mediocre, but stop posting things from this click bait site.

Color me unsurprised. But they’re the idiots that caved to the Snyder cult mouth breathers in the first place to dump even further cash into an already established shitty product.

My prediction: it will be epically “meh.” Not bad enough to justify the Schadenfreude of the doubters but not good enough to justify the hype from Snydercut hopefuls.

It's almost certainly gonna suck, for sure, but there will be plenty of people that try to convince themselves that it's good at first. They'll ultimately also agree that it sucks.

Article says that was an AT&T decision, not the Bros.

This cut will be such a shite show

About 10% less of a shite show than the original but still a big time shite show.

Can't wait to see the mental gymnastics of people saying it's good.

Shazam, Wonderwoman 1, and Aquaman are the only DC movies that aren't total disasters.

Given the body of work Snyder and Terrio have contributed to the DCEU, I'm not sure why people would have particularly high hopes for this. This whole thing felt like a marketing stunt to promote HBO Max.

Maybe they can get Joss Whedon to come back and recut this version as well.

I can only assume that the fact that Batman v. Superman was marginally better in the director's cut means that Snyder's 4 hour long Justice League won't be total crap.

I have my doubts.

If they fix the CGI on Cavil’s face, the original improves drastically.

100% this. They will also try and convince everyone else that it's good and claim that we just didn't get it or understand it. Plus we will be blessed for the next 5 years of tweets from Snyder filling in obvious holes that were missed from the 4 hour cut just for other idiots to demand the release of the 37 hour cut so we can all be graced with the full garbage story full of nonsense.
