Just watched the doc.. Not bad. I didn't go nor wanted to go.. I was more Travis Tritt than Limp Biskit in 99. But enjoyed the documentary.

There was no reason to turn that into some kind of existential take on young white men in the late 90's.

They can frick right off too. Not watching. So sick of this shite. Wouldn't care if it were ever even handed but of course nobody can ever point out the 3rd world animal behavior that goes on at damn near every single rap festival. Just kids being kids right?

If you grew up in that era, I'd still recommend watching it. I was bored last night and watched it again. They certainly do focus on the angry white male dynamic, but they also hone in a lot on how ill prepared the promoters were and how the unpreparedness heavily contributed to the end result.

And it wasn't just the filmmakers that talked up the angry white male dynamic. A few of the artists that performed there also mentioned it, along with some attendees, including one that admitted to participating in the riots. A couple of the security guards did as well.

Watched it this weekend and thought it was pretty good. Interesting how many want to just lay the blame on Fred Durst. Also, the organizers seemed like huge shmucks who could admit no fault.

They were definitely ill prepared and some of the commentary was unusual. The black guy who kept going on tangents about racism (particularly about DMX and the call and response). DMX chose to sing that song.. and encouraged the crowd to respond.

I did like the part where they talked about the female acts. Alanis Morissette, Jewel, and Sheryl Crow were certainly unusual given the rest of the lineup. But so were DMX, Wyclef and some others.

1994 seems like a year I would have enjoyed Woodstock. I actually like quite a few of the bands at 1999 but I would've been miserable if I'd gone.

I'm guessing the statute of limitations had run out on that guy because he admitted to everything

Moby's commentary regarding the whole thing was odd.. but that's Moby for ya. I did really feel for all the women who were sexually assaulted because there's no way they were able to find/charge the majority of those who committed the acts.

I haven't seen the doc yet, but I did read the whole thread. And one thing that stands out is how many people claim to hate Limp Bizkit. Which I can understand, I guess. I wasn't a huge fan, but I dug some of their music. For a span of 2-3 years, they had some catchy heavy shite that was fun to turn up in my car and listen to. Chocolate Starfish was a really good album IIRC.

After reading the thread, I'll still check the doc out, but with the foresight of its message. But mainly I want to watch it for nostalgia.

Just watched it, the racism aspect was out of left field, especially when the black guy said:
“if you ask the frat boys to say the song afterwards, they would blush and not say it!” Back then everyone would’ve said it and not cared.

The columbine thing didn’t make sense, because none of the bands the shooters liked were even there.

Moby clearly sits when he pees and his farts don’t make a sound.
